I love this character. I have enjoyed watching her in the movies and in last two seasons. Yet, if the movie that they have written does not call for her to come back, then I'm okay with that. I'm looking forward in seeing Jack and the whole crew (original) come back. I just don't think that Vala could work well with Jack. Maybe she could, but I think that they are essentially the same character.
I disagree I think they could work just fine

I really don't care. She's funny and all but I'd prefer this movie to be about the original SG-1. I'd leave Browder out too.

The original SG-1 has no story left in 'em. What can they do that hasn't been done a dozen times (within the limited parameters of the Stargate writers' impoverished imaginations?)

I fail to understand why anyone who claims to be a fan of Claudia Black would wish for her career to be tethered to SG-1 for one millesecond longer. Can't we get her a gig on Caprica instead? Sure, that's a gamble that it will even survive, but there she might have the opportunity to use her acting talent again instead of just slumming/hamming it up.

Send Browder, Black and Judge out to other, better shows. RDA is retired, so leave him be. Everyone else, forget em. Forget the writers and producers most of all.
You forgot Shanks he deserves to be on other shows too but I agree with the bold part that's why I am very unhappy with current things I have heard about the third movie Jack is done as far as I am concerned but it seems BW can't let go of RDA. I want Claudia Black to be on other shows too but I love Vala she is such a colorful character and interesting character that's why I want her at least be included in the movies too that's why DVD movie sounds so appealing to me as a fan we get to see our favorites actors on other shows and still see our favorites characters once and while

Vala is to Stargate what Yoko Ono was to the Beatles.
That is not fair and you know it

I don't really care to be honest. I quite liked Vala most of the time, although I hated her working relationship with Daniel. But I'd happily see her gone from the show now that the Ori threat is over.

I'm a Stargate purist, so prefer the Jack/Daniel/Sam/Teal'c team dynamic, with no outsiders. Really not a huge fan of what Mitchell, Landry, and Lam especially (god she was awful) brought to the show.

Strange how SG-1 went to the shitter as soon as Vala and Mitchel showed up. Mitchel we could have used due to the departure of O'Neill.

Season 9, and especially season 10, were in my opinion, far better and much more enjoyable than nearly all the previous seasons were.

 :wtf:

You're either speachless or have used an emoticon I have blocked, but either way you obviously dont agree.

Season 10, (and 9 to a lesser extent) for me, managed to get everything right, from the action on screen, to character interactions to a general feel of the show. I have watched every season, I own every season on dvd, and season 10 is the only one I watch repeatedly. It is far, far better than any previous season as a whole.

With just the slight change in characters, I found the chemistry between the cast on this season to be preferable to the chemistry from the cast in previous seasons. While the Jack/Daniel stuff was always good, I never overally cared for the other interactions. The last two season brought about an interaction between everyone that I enjoyed.

And because of all that, I want Vala in the SG-1 movies, moreso than I would ever want RDA back.

^Yeah, I don't know if it's just because I got used to the Season 9/10 character composition, but I have a hard time now watching earlier seasons without getting bored.

It could also be that just prefer the story arc in those seasons more than the rest. If I'm going to watch an early season, it has to be one of the BIG episodes (like season finale type stuff). The standalones do nothing for me anymore.

Sorry, completely disagree. Mitchell added nothing, they ruined the Daniel character, the stories got rehashed, the writing got lazy, the Ori threat was badly conceived from the start, Lam was cringe-worthingly bad, the bottle shows were an embarrassment (Collateral Damage, Insiders, Uninvited, 200, Company of Thieves, Bad Guys, Family Ties, Unending). Of course I do think there were some excellent episodes, but on the whole the entire final two series just felt completely off to me. Season 9 was bearable, but 10 was awful.

Classic Stargate was better written, more original, the team dynamic was better, as was the cinematography and story arcs. Seasons 3, 4, 5 and 6 are outstanding in my opinion.

Anyway we all have different views, I was just surprised that someone thinks that the two seasons were the show "went to the shitter" as Rycher put it and ended up getting cancelled, are better than the previous years.

I'd say that both Season 9 & 10 were better than season 7 & 8, at least... The new cast brought some much needed refreshing change. Season 7 & 8 had just gotten stale - And the O'Neil character had become a sad joke.

I agree that seasons 3-6 were the prime of the show.

Yes seasons 7 and 8 were indeed terrible. Probably worse than 9 and 10 as you say. But 9 and 10 just didn't feel like SG-1 to me.

yes. she has to. she added fun to the cast. probably just me, but i liked what she added to the series and character dynamics. she's the goof of the group, in a charming way, not the tired ol' o'neil way.

Well, her character is VERY annoying. But, she looks good. So, I suppose we include her. Wether she gets any dialogue or simply serves as eye candy in a couple of scenes is a matter for debate.:)

All of the negatives you described started WELL before Mitchell and Vala showed up. Back when O'Neil was promoted and phoning it in, Daniel coming back from ascension is when he got ruined... yeah, you've definitely got your history a little messed up there.

At least the producers, after seeing how bad things were going, tried bringing in new stories, baddies and characters to freshen things up a bit.

I think it worked. The Ori was infinitely better than what the G'oauld (sp?) had become, that's for sure.

It wasn't heading anywhere good before the additions. It's odd to see anyone question that.

I love Vala! Yeah, bring her back.

In fact, give her her own goddamn TV series. Who can forget the lie detector scene?

Well I felt Mitchell brought a much more defined command structure than had been since season 6 once RDA started phoning it in and reduced his appearences and I appreciated that. I think Lam was handicapped by the fact that Lexa Doig got pregnant and kind of disappeared for a season and a half, had she been able to stick around I think we would have got a larger view of her character. I disagree that the stories got "re-hashed", there may have been similar concepts used on occasions, but you get that with show that lasts 10 years. And I liked the Ori, much more so than I did the replicators and Anubis.

And Of those bottle shows you mentioned (some not actually being bottle shows at all) the only one I wasnt a fan of was "Insiders".

Classic Stargate was better written, more original, the team dynamic was better, as was the cinematography and story arcs. Seasons 3, 4, 5 and 6 are outstanding in my opinion.

Seasons 9 and 10 were different than the previous seasons, I dont deny that, and just because I like season 10 the most doesnt mean I dont like the earlier seasons, though personally I would rank season 6 the lowest, mainly from a combination of never liking Jonas, Daniel not being there for the most part and RDA starting phoning it in as I said before.

Anyway we all have different views, I was just surprised that someone thinks that the two seasons were the show "went to the shitter" as Rycher put it and ended up getting cancelled, are better than the previous years.

That we do, if everyone had the same opinion it would be boring.

Though I think the main point is I do not think the show ever "went to the shitter" in the first place, hence why I think seasons 9 and 10 were great. I also think they were on an upswing of quality from a group of seasons (6-8) that had declined to a point, from the initial few seasons.

Still this may be wandering slightly away from the point of the thread.
