Do you want the Kelvin Universe to continue?

Since the prime universe is still producing new stories I would say no. The 4th film has been stuck in development hell for a few years now. Also to have two star trek universes running concurrently would just confuse casual fans. That and the actors on the original films are near the TOS movie age now so do we really want a retelling of middle aged Kirk again. They have missed the window of the young crew now because they took too long making these movies. It's been 14 years since the first one.

I wouldn't mind seeing them do a Phase II era show, if they were still willing to play the parts. But, I have no interest in the Kelvin versions. I don't mind the actors, but would want to see them playing Prime characters.

Right. The Kelvin era was a nice experiment but after the 3rd movie it was clear it was done. Studios aren't willing to spend 300 mil on a star trek movie knowing they might only break even.

Are Star Trek fans really dumber than Batman fans?
No. The "Having X versions running simultaneously would just confuse [some group of] fans" thing is nearly always not-very-subtle code for "This is different from what I want to see, therefore no one should be allowed to see it. Because only what I want to see should be produced."

The actors are all rapidly getting closer to their motion picture and wrath of khan ages. They'll be on the 2280s soon. So I guess we can have a movie with a Admiral Kirk now

As I said earlier, I would love to get the post-TMP 5YM covered finally with the younger cinematic cast. With Chekov leaving for the Reliant at some point, you could even gloss over the loss of the Chekov actor. I'm just not interested in the Kelvin universe take on things. I'll deal with the "visual retcon" if they try to stick to Prime timeline beats.

If my mom, who despises science fiction and Star Trek, can figure it out then Trek fans can.

I thought Trek prided itself on being an intelligent audience?

Tarantino:

“Now, I still don’t quite understand – and J.J. can’t explain it to me, and my editor has tried to explain it to me and I still don’t get it … Something happened in the first movie that kind of wiped the slate clean? I don’t buy that. I don’t like it. I don’t appreciate it. I don’t … fuck that! Alright? I don’t like that."

“I want the whole series to have happened, it just hasn’t happened yet. No, Benedict Cumberbatch or whatever his name is, is not Khan. Khan is Khan. I told J.J. I don’t understand this, I don’t like it. And he went: ‘Ignore it! Nobody likes it! I don’t understand it. Do whatever you want. If you want it to happen in the exact way it happened on the series, it can.'”

Well, artist's discretion will always prevail.

After watching this current season of Picard and seeing them give the TNG cast a proper send-off, I would love to see the Kelvin characters get a proper send off as well. they don't have to follow the same plot of Season 3 but I would love to see something Akin to TUC.

Nothing against Chris Pine and Zachary Quinton. But if they make another film, I'd want to see more John Cho, Karl Urban, and Zoe Saldana

absolutely HATE qunito as Spock, but I think Pine could have been a great Kirk if he had been given Prime-style material to work with. I would love to see Pine paired with Peck and Urban, to be honest.

With Trek back in full force on TV, I'm not sure if we NEED these movies again but I love the cast and I'd be down for more adventures.

Since Kelvin is an alt timeline, they should mix it up. Lets see the TOS crew go up against the Borg or Q, it doesn't have to stick to canon. I'm sure they'd eventually do a Kelvin TNG film series as well and that could lead into DS9. Have Picard and co. interact directly during the height of the Dominion War. Redo Generations and have Kelvin Kirk and Picard team up in a more satisfying way. Lot of possibilities to shake things up in a fun way if they continue the Kelvin-verse.

That would have been fun if they had done that from the beginning. Kelvin verse lost me with blowing up Vulcan and Captain Cadet. I wish Khan had actually just been a henchman trying to free Khan. I hope it gets an ending that stops Soock from ever creating the splinterverse and they can just be watched between Nemesis and Picard Season 1.

There was a bonkers rumour that the Tarantino Trek feature film is being retooled as an 8-part limited series on P+. I don't believe it, but I'd be 100% for it.

Although I'm not so sure his concept necessarily has to be set in the Kelvinverse, so I guess they could recast or use SNW actors and do it as a standalone/out of continuity thing. Cos there's no chance of a Tarantino project sliding in smoothly between seasons of SNW:lol:
