It would be nice! But I don't see it being anywhere near as successful as the 2009 reboot at getting newbies interested.
That being said, I am not the target audience. What do kids even like these days? Paw Patrol?

I'm skeptical that it will have much of an impact. It will largely be watched by established fans.
Sure, but it might be a good way for those people to introduce their children to Trek earlier and more effectively than might be possible than with other series.
Yes. I know parents already excited for their kids to have a Trek of their own.
Paw Patrol is for pre schoolers.
I am not sure what kids watch today, I do know of some of the newer shows on say Disney for kids:

I tried to get my eight-year-old son interested in the show by letting him see the trailer. He only got around half way through before saying "Dad, this is Star Wars...I hate Star Wars!"
I then corrected him, but he has no interest in Star Trek either. No interest in anything superhero related either FWIW. He still has little kid taste in shows for the most part, watching a lot of preschool-age shows like PAW Patrol. Recently developed an interest in Pokemon, but that's about the most adult thing he will watch.

First post in this forum. My brother says my niece can't wait for Prodigy.
When she was younger (she's eight now), her parents used to tell her "Captain Kirk Stories" for bedtime. Then my brother started showing her TOS, and now he's showing her VOY. She really likes Captain Janeway. So the fact that Janeway is in Prodigy is a plus for her.

Interesting times. How different it used to be where it was the live action adventure which drew kids to Star Trek.
My daughter (who is 12) has at least developed a taste for fantasy, so I can share that with her. I bit the bullet and decided to let her read A Song of Ice and Fire this year, and she loves it.
Got her a D&D starter set several years ago, but she has yet to try playing it.
I don't like it when people mix Trek and Wars... its hardly a travesty, but its like comparing apples and oranges and the distinction is definintely palatable.
Honestly, I have little to no interest in superheroes either... some of the stupidest inventions really... no actual purpose in changing societal problems... they just treat the symptoms. Boring really.
Trek at the very least has merit from a science, technology and societal point of view, but its not everyone's cup of tea... though I can understand why he doesn't like Star War.
Point being, I don't think there's anything wrong with your son not liking Wars, Trek or superhero stuff... though I'm not sure what to make of his interest in PAW patrol... maybe he likes stuff that has more to do with animals - but I am quite astonished as to what is being fed to kids these days. Its as if stuff is extremely low grade for people who might even have mental difficulties... its kind of an insult to kids if you ask me.
Perhaps this could be the time to get your kids to read more relevant books instead of watching tv?
Also, instead of trying to hook your son onto the things you like, perhaps try picking his brains and see what tickles his interests instead.
He certainly won't find that in the education system, and neither will your daughter, so you'd probably be the kids best chance at discovering and nurturing what they like and getting involved in that (while bearing in mind that those interests can change over time).
Personally, I don't have (nor want kids)... too much of a responsibility. The concept of having kids repulses me next to the fact I don't like them - but that's just me.
If there is good marketing, and also a good line of tie-in toys that are actually made for kids to play with and enjoy instead of just overpriced high-end stuff for adult collectors.
