Captain America - Civil war showed a compturised young Tony Stark, the actor is in his 40's, so a computerised, young looking Pike and Quinto can do a cameo on Discovery.
Personally, I'd rather stare at post-accident Pike-face for an hour than have to see another monstrosity like Princess Uncanny Val-Leia from the end of Rogue One again. *Shudder* Flashbacks to Polar Express. It's just too easy to go horribly horribly wrong once you go down that path.Captain America - Civil war showed a compturised young Tony Stark, the actor is in his 40's, so a computerised, young looking Pike and Quinto can do a cameo on Discovery.
The question, in my mind, would be is there a compelling reason to set a film in the prime universe? What does that continuity offer that indispensable? What about the prime universe is going to sell more tickets than the kelvin universe?

Happens all the time with these series. The contracts are renegotiated, and the actors generally get more money to continue.
I can't imagine the full cast being back for a fifth Kelvin film - hell, I'm crossing my fingers that we even get a fourth.
Probably not. I mean, nothing wrong with dreaming. I'd love to see a DS9 feature film, but there's no way in hell that's happening. Still, a man can dream. That being said, the Kelvin universe films are likely what we're getting for the long haul, even if Discovery is successful, which I hope it is. I hope they both are. I want more Star Trek! So, what do you folks think of another Prime Universe film happening? If Discovery does very well, I could see Paramount possibly considering another Prime movie... but I doubt it. I don't think they would want to "confuse" the mass-market, as the JJ films exist in an entirely separate timeline... Then again, I understand that the status of Discovery being in the Prime Universe is a tad up in the air right now (Soft reboot? Starts out in Prime, but some inter-dimensional stuff comes into play?).
I also realize I'm putting the cart ahead of the horse. That said, I'm just interested in what the community here thinks of this.
Anyways, thoughts?

It's the inevitable move towards merging TV and cinema; 13 episodes with roughly 2-3 weeks to shoot each one usually means the actors won't have to work so many super late nights and weekends to finish shooting, and it also means they can take other projects in the downtime, and it also gives the writers producers and post more time to polish each show before it airs.I've never understood this kind of scheduling. All it does is erode the audience.

We also got a "young" Michael Douglas in ANT-MAN and, judging from the trailer, we're getting a "young" Johnny Depp in the next PIRATES movie.
I have to say: the technology is getting better and better. The rejuvenated Michael Douglas in ANT-MAN was pretty convincing.
If they keep that up Hollywood won't need real actors in the future, save them a ton of money. We also got a "young" Michael Douglas in ANT-MAN and, judging from the trailer, we're getting a "young" Johnny Depp in the next PIRATES movie.

One one hand, I think there will someday (even after a possible 4th Kelvin Universe film) be another Star Trek film, and quite possibly in the prime universe; I truly doubt they will ever totally abandon the extended franchise. Some might call it a reboot (and hence a defacto separate universe), but if we are told that it occurs in the Prime Universe, then there is no reason why it necessarily could not be in the Prime Universe.ST4 will, from what I hear, be the final Kelvin-verse film. So it's a very open-ended question as to which universe any subsequent films (if there ever are any) would involve.
Interesting points. On the other hand, I don't think this series will directly spawn another Prime Universe film (which is the OP's question).
I do think there will in fact someday be another Prime Universe film series, and if this series is successful, that success would play a part into the perceived viability (perceived by future film producers) of another film or films.
I think the only way we would see another prime universe movie would be if Discovery did quite well and after it's run (seven years?) there was then a Discovery movie.
I think the Prime timeline is gone. I believe this is another reboot. All there will be is the Discovery timeline and the Kelvin timeline. The Prime timeline will live in reruns only. That's what I think at least.
