I think the only way we would see another prime universe movie would be if Discovery did quite well and after it's run (seven years?) there was then a Discovery movie.A Discovery movie? Way too soon no matter how well received it is.

It could happen as a prequel to the current "Kelvin" series. Not very likely IMO'Trek's' very own 'Flying Dutchman' - The Romulan War
It'll never happen
Depends on your definition of "Prime". Even though "officially" Discovery takes place in the "Prime" timeline, I think it's more accurate (at least between fans) to consider Discovery it's own universe and a reboot in its own right.I think the only way we would see another prime universe movie would be if Discovery did quite well and after it's run (seven years?) there was then a Discovery movie.
At least they wouldn't have to worry about spoilers, because everyone already knows how that one turned out.'Trek's' very own 'Flying Dutchman' - The Romulan War

I think the bulk of the people purchasing tickets don't know the difference between the two universes.
I think it is a reboot but within the continuity of the prime universe. Same as TNG.Even though "officially" Discovery takes place in the "Prime" timeline, I think it's more accurate (at least between fans) to consider Discovery it's own universe and a reboot in its own right.

OK so for the sake of argument, lets use this definition of reboot: "Television series that begin established franchise again instead of building off of previous works." Use this definition of continuity: "In fiction, continuity (also called time-scheme) is consistency of the characteristics of people, plot, objects, and places seen by the reader or viewer over some period of time."I'm not following.![]()

I've never understood this kind of scheduling. All it does is erode the audience. With 13 episodes per season or less, and with a longer time span between seasons, I don't see DSC lasting for more than 3 seasons (which would probably take 5 years to produce.)
That's exactly what it means. My childhood in the 80s wasn't a 'reboot' of my parents' youth in the 50s... things looked different and were done differently in my time, but there is an acknowledged continuity between the two.^ IMHO, the use of the word 'reboot' implies starting a whole new continuity.
I mean, I think it was pretty clear it was just wishful thinking on my part, just a typical fan-fantasy.Nope. Not happening. Not now, not ever. That ship sailed with Nemesis atrocious performance.
