Do you think SW The Clone Wars will beat The Dark Knight this weekend?

I'm having serious doubts that it will. And to be honest, as much as I love Star Wars, there is a big part of me that wants TDK to beat Clone Wars this weekend, only because of what a huge blow it would be to George Lucas's ego and to show that the Star Wars franchise isn't invincible. TDK is a juggernaut right now, and has been number 1 for four weeks in a row! It's definitely gonna have a tough time against TDK.

How weird would it be for a Star Wars movie to open and not be number 1 for its opening weekend?

I really can't see Clone Wars knocking TDK out of the number one slot.

I'm not even sure if I will see it in the theatres.

No, I don't think that Clone Wars will beat Dark Knight. I don't know a single person excited for it. Not even Star Wars fans want to see it. But I think it's a sure bet that Tropic Thunder will beat Dark Knight.

The Dark Knight is winding down and I expect it'll make about ~$12-$15 million on its fifth weekend. I would be quite surprised if it makes number one, but only because of Tropic Thunder.

No, I think Tropic Thunder will take down TDK before Clone Wars will. I have no desire whatsoever to see Clone Wars. The thing that threw me was the voicework. The visuals are fine, but it sounds like they got teenage girls and boys and bad Yoda impersonators to voice the film. And maybe they did...

They actually got three actors from the the live action movies for this one. Anthony Daniels, Samuel L. Jackson, and Chrstopher Lee.

Personally, I don't think Clone Wars will be breaking any box office records, let alone beat The Dark Knight in #1.

Doubtful. There doesn't seem to be too much hype or excitement for Clone Wars. I'm not sure that the style of animation is going to appeal to too many people. THe only person I know who is excited for it is my 7 year old niece.

I think most of the people here saying they don't want to see the Clone Wars are missing the point. It's a cartoon being marketed as a kid's movie, at least from what I've seen. As such, I'm not interested. And, also as such, I don't expect it to dethrone TDK (Tropic Thunder might).

The Clone Wars doesn't seem to be generating that much hype even among hardcore Star Wars fans, although I could be wrong about that. I'm intrigued with the Ashoka concept...wish it had been there in the cartoon Clone Wars though. This seems to take place between the first season of the Clone Wars cartoon and ROTS since Anakin is shown in some stills with his scar...and Ventress and Grevious are in it.

I don't think it has enough to take down Dark Knight but I was surprised to see how much of a dip DK had last weekend so its starting to finally slow down and like others I suspect that Tropic Thunder will finally take it down. Don't see how Clone Wars could.

No way. Not even close--if you're talking about opening weekend box office numbers. I don't see Clone Wars besting TDK this weekend, but I suppose it could. TDK has been open for a month now. I'll be curious to see how it all shakes out.

^That's kinda hyperbole there. Star Wars has a fan base exponentially bigger than TMNT. The problem here is that the large majority of that already built in fan base doesn't give a crap about this movie. They're burnt out from the crap they've had to endure from the series. Also, Dark Knight is hardly Titanic. Yes, it's been amazingly successful, but it's not even close to Titanic's totals and won't come close either.

If you mean will it move TDK down then ye,s it's possible. If you mean that it will earn more than TDK did on its first weekend then no, it won't.

Tropic Thunder opens mid-week. Some theaters are even having midnight showings tonight, which granted, means nothing since I went to the midnight opening of Land of the Dead and only 20 people were there. I say Tropic Thunder will win the week.
