I would give Riker, and for that matter Ro, a pass on the events in "Conundrum" as they were, quite literally, not themselves. And I think it's time to end all the "who cleans the holodeck" jokes as there is transporter tech there, hence the solid objects, so anything "left behind" is just dematerialized.

Except, they were "themselves", just without the memories of events/specifics. Of course the idea that you could forget what happened to you and still be the same person doesn't track... then again their memories were "suppressed," not gone, and we can see they were still subconsciously influenced by those emotions (Riker/Troi). The fact that everyone's personalities etc were still the same was why they didn't complete MacDuff's "mission."

sorry, p.s.: you're right about the holodeck, def in terms of what we are to assume happens. But the holodeck does not dematerialize all organic matter (or even all matter it replicated) when it's shut off. If you eat a replicated ice cream in the holodeck, it doesn't get dematerialized from inside you (imagine that... especially after digestion). It doesn't dematerialize stuff that was brought into it either, even if that was replicated, such as the costumes people wear when they go play there).

We've seen Guinan as well as Kira and Dax wearing their "playclothes" to the holodeck.
And a lot of others, and we've also seen them walk out of there with them... especially since in fact, it seems all their clothes (uniforms etc as well as costumes) are in fact replicated. Replication seems to be the new method of manufacture, certainly on SF ships (makes sense in general).

The holodeck likely only dematerializes objects that were created in that session.

The technology is capable of dematerializing real things and people that aren't part of the program, per Wesley in "The Big Goodbye."
If this isn't done correctly, the program could abort and everyone inside could vanish.

Um, what?

Given that millennials are in their late thirties and forties, they've largely had to be frugal with their spending habits and behavior with a lot more focus on restraint as well as social reform. Millennials will go down in history as people who were more socially progressive and fiscally poor.

Holy crap! Uncorking a five year dead thread is decidedly not cool.

CLANG!
