You know, for that matter, it's a shame they didn't put the Olympic class model to further use after scratch-building it for 'AGT.' Come to think of it, I don't know what happened to that model...

Yes, the Star Empire was going to handle that whole wormhole/Dominion problem quite handily until the Federation butted in. Stupid time-shifting Irishman.
I can't help but think a more realistic AGT future adjusted for DS9 would have shown a Quadrant overrun by the Dominion. Alternately, perhaps the Romulans of that timeline did handle the wormhole and DS9 was destroyed, and the Klingon conflict began when the Klingons invaded Cardassia was never put aside to unite against the Dominion?
Those miserable space-vikings might have conquered both Romulus and Cardassia...

There are hints that the Klingon Empire will become even stronger and aggressive in the new timeline, acting as a adversary for the UFP. (I'm hoping that Cardassia emerges in a stronger position where it can act as a counterweight to the KE)
The space Vikings will never conquer Romulus or Cardassia - not in my little world, anyway, and what other one matters? If it doesn't happen on screen, it's not canon and it didn't happen neener neener neener.

QFT, againist either Cardassian or Romulan tactical or strategic brilliance those Klingon jackals wouldn't stand a chance.
Even the Federation gave them a run for their money.
I like that theory.
I'd go elements of both, but if I had to pick it would be the current one.
The whole AGS future was just too dark and depressing like something out of Babylon 5 (from what I've seen of it), and not good dark like DS9 which was a kind of "if your not in a cushy federation you have to get a bit more rough" but more like "it's all over why even bother to live?" dark.
The Ships
Although for reasons that baffle me now (maybe it was the angle of the first picture I saw?) I used to dislike the E design I think the E looks much cooler than the triple nacelled D, though I did think it looked good too.
I did like the cloaking device on the ship and always loved it on the Defiant.
The bridge..did anyone else notice that big boxy thing they put on the security station in alot of TNG alternate timelines? It really annoyed me for some reason...just looks so goofy and out of place.
I loved the Pastuer and the whole idea of a medical ship and Beverly finally getting to use those command skils again.
I also loved the Neg'var class Klingon ships, I didn't mind the D being destroyed but I really wish it wasn't a pissy little BOP that destroyed it, if it was taken down by 1-2 Neg'vars under Duras control that would have been going down with some honor.
The Crew
I'd rather Data was alive and Troi dead, Data was a far more interesting character than Troi and he WAS the one meant to live forever...
Picard with the futurisitic Alzihmers was just depressing but it did make a point that anyone can be taken down with illness no matter how great they are.
Bitter angry cynical Worf and Riker were also depressing.
The Political Landscape
Wheres all this love for the Romulans coming from all of a sudden??? I thought they were the least interesting main enemy ST ever had.

They were a lot more interesting before the Klingons got a transplant of their warrior's honor angle after TOS... but I think they still do well. I like an enemy that is difficult to hate.
I'm honestly curious why you found them disinteresting?
