Do you play games with "walkthroughs?"

I can't stand walkthroughs. What's the point of getting all the secrets and everything of a game, running through it with zero challenge, never exploring for anything, then finishing it in record time...

Never understood this, lol.

Usually look at walkthroughs after I've completed a game myself, to see if there's anything cool I've missed.

If I've tried everything I can think of, and still can't figure something out, I'll check online for a walkthrough.

They are a help, but I wouldn't read one before I even started playing the game. What fun would that be?

For 99% of the games I play (mostly RTS) hells no, but I do often use them on games like GTA since I only use those games as sort of digital punching bags, where I release tensions and just dick around. I'm not so interested in their story modes.

But usually, no.

It's been a long while since I've played the kind of game a walkthrough would be useful for. I guess the last one was Anachronox or maybe Jedi Knight II. I used them when I got well & truly stuck, and then went back to playing it on my own. No point getting frustrated, is there?

I used walkthroughs on Xenosaga 1,2 & 3 simply because I was engrossed the the plot and wanted to get through it to the end.

Ar Tonelico, only after I finished the game. That way I could unlock everything.

I use walkthroughs often now that my computer time has been cut short. I want to learn the story of the game and sometimes spending hours looking for the one "thingy" to get me to the next level is hours wasted.

again only if I'm really stuck. There was one game I was stuck for years on early an early level before I was online, once I knew how to get past that one probem I pretty much completed the whole thing in one go!

There's no point spending hours and hours trying anything and everything if its all on here.

Only when really stuck and about to give up on the game. Once I'm finished, I tend to read them and go back and find all the extra stuff I missed.

I think the last time I used a walkthrough was when I was playing Starcraft about nine years ago give or take. Generally, unless I get REALLY stuck, I don't use a walkthrough on the first run. Afterwards I would though because then it's just goof-off time for me.

Sure, if I'm stuck I have no qualms about consulting a walkthrough. My time for playing video games has been reduced dramatically since my kids were born, so it's not worth it spending hours trying to figure out some puzzle or boss battle strategy or whatever.

If I'm stuck, yes. I'm the kind of person that, if I don't "get it" in the first few minutes, it's just not going to happen. This is backed up by the fact that when I do look at the solution in the walkthrough, it is pretty much always something I never would have thought of and makes little sense to me. So I don't waste hours thinking about what to do because it's not going to solve anything, it will just get me frustrated.

If I'm playing a game I don't care about that much, I am more likely to go to the walkthrough. Games are supposed to be fun, not anger-inducing because you have spent half an hour trying to figure out where one item is.

I usually play on my own, but if I truly can't figure something out, then I'll consult a walkthrough just to get me past the bit I'm stuck on.

I occasionally use walkthroughs if I get stuck, like the accursed Star Destroyer in The Force Unleashed, but my general view is that if a relatively experienced player like me needs a walkthrough then the game is not a good one.
