Do you like TOS when it's more cerebral or more action driven.

I will admit, I love a good space battle, and stand by that, or seeing Jim take one down, or rip em with a phaser...but it needs good DRAMA with it-character interaction, poignant, and powerful, which gets to the heart, and this in part is why we keep watching these old gems forever...and yes, look at something like 'A Private Little War'....'Serpents' Jim sighs...for the Garden of Eden that Starfleet and the Klingons tore aprt with their influence...or taking the 'demonization' of the Horta to a simple mother protecting her young....

Since TOS had an "anthology" aproach to its writing (even though it wasnt an anthology) it was open to all kinds of stories. Parody, allegory, comedy, action, social commentary or anything else. So as long at its done well I dont care.

Yeah, that'll do for me too...

Cerebral. C'mon, "Let This Be Your Last Battlefield" and "Balance of Terror"? You can't touch them.

I hate fist fights. Stupid and cheesy. (Except, iirc, in Alternative Factor, they kind of grapple and wrestle more realistically than usual.)

I like both. There's no reason an action story can't be good if done well. Same with cerebral. When either is done badly, that's the problem.

TOS and DS9 had the best mix of cerebral stories and action, in my opinion.

Cerebral. TOS got more ordinary when it went for action, though it did action reasonably well. I never thought The Cage was more cerebral than Where No Man Has Gone Before. Both had action, lasers/phasers, philosophical debates, moral conflict, and a downbeat atmosphere, though The Cage seemed bigger and more cinematic in its scope and production.

I like it when there is a good combination of both. Like half and half. But, you know, the thought provoking ones appeal to me more.
