I always felt the Discovery era starfleet ships looked more post TNG in design. They had some cool ships but I just couldn't see them as evolutions of the Enterprise Era.
Pike's Enterprise fits better, still higher tech in appearance than Kirk's but not super sleek wedgie like the USS Shenzhou..
On a related note, I feel like S1 Klingon ship designs would've looked great as part of a 32nd century KDF fleet.

As an ancient fleet, they're OK, but I prefer what Enterprise was going for with the scaffolding approach.

I'm a little surprised how low Discovery only votes are. I knew it would finish last but expected a few more votes.

If my memory serves correctly, long time forum member Lord Garth is one of the few who likes DISC but not SNW. ( he and /or others can correct me if I'm wrong)

For me, only season 2 and 5 of DISC has felt like Star Trek albeit mediocre Star Trek.. Otherwise , Seasons 1, 3 and 4 are un-rewatchable for me. Whereas SNW is definitely my favorite especially season 2. Repeat viewings galore.

Edit: Just realized this the SNW Forum. I would expect more Discovery only votes in DISC forum or even General Trek.

In my personal ranking of the Star Trek shows, SNW is the best Star Trek since DS9 ended as #4, right behind TOS, TNG and DS9, and DSC takes the least spot #11.

SNW reminds me of what TNG could have been like if they had access the today's SFX back then,

My only real negative is the decision to fill the bridge with female officers instead of a mix. It just sort of reminds me of the anime ' bridge bunny syndrome'. I know having many strong female characters is a thing these days, but I just think a mixed ensemble would have worked well

All the modern Trek series have been pretty different, so I'm not that surprised that a percentage of SNW fans here dislike Discovery. I wasn't expecting that percentage to be 50%, that seems a bit high, but I guess Disco has always been a bit divisive.

I wouldn't say I dislike Strange New Worlds exactly, as there were three episodes in season 2 I really enjoyed. Two songs as well. But my list of things I dislike about the series is longer than my list of things I dislike about Discovery, and it has more underlined words and exclamation marks. At its worst SNW really frustrates me while Discovery's weaker elements mostly just disappoint me, so if I had to rank them, I'd put Disco in first place.

Well it's an individual, personal feeling I guess. I grew up with TOS and it impressed me most.
Anyway, it's not easy to explain. I'm also a huge fan of DS9 although many people said it's not very Star Trek when it came out.

I'm enjoying Strange New Worlds so far but don't like Discovery. SNW does have more of a Trek feel to me. What does that mean? More focus on characters for a start, also not seeking to change well established Trek elements (like turning Klingons into some weird troll like creatures).

Discovery is all about characters and the Klingons change a bit.

Strange New Worlds must have a different take on characters to satisfy this preference.

I only watched a few episodes of Discovery as I was just not enjoying it. But it seemed one of those shows that's 90% action scenes and effects shots, and little room for fleshing out the characters. Doesn't do a lot for me.

And that's fair since the characters that grow are Saru and Burnham.

But, to each their own. It is more character focused than it is given credit for, but it is on a select few characters, closer to TOS, than SNW, closer to an ensemble.
