Oh yes, I enjoy roller coasters quite a bit. I haven't been to an amusement park in several years, though, so it's been a while since I've ridden one. While I detest the line-ups that usually accompany them, I think they're tremendous fun. I must admit, though, they don't really scare me anymore -- when everyone else is screaming, I'm completely silent, wondering why everyone else is getting so worked up.

That's why I started to look for something new and exciting in the parks to get my adrenaline pumping. At Canada's Wonderland, they have this bungee-jump sort of thing called the "X-treme Sky Flier". You get hooked up to it with two other people, raised hundreds of feet in the air, and then one member of your party has to pull the release. You fall back down and then swing like a pendulum for a couple minutes before the attendants come to let you out. Wicked fun -- I've done it three times, and it's always scared the hell out of me.

I can be dragged onto one, but only if it's VERY mild, not too high, and has no corkscrews or loops. The most extreme rollercoaster I can ride is the Road Runner at Six Flags Fiesta Texas. I've also gone on the Runaway Mine Train at Six Flags Over Texas. Granted, I'll be screaming my head off in the process and probably swearing on the lift hill (I do that on the Road Runner... all the way up it's "oh shit oh shit oh shit...")

My brother, however, will ride just about anything. He even went on the Skycoaster at Schlitterbahn. (It's one of those things where they strap you and a partner into a harness, pull you to the top of a tower, signal you to pull the ripcord, and then you fall and swing).

I forgot about Space Mountain at DisneyWorld. That was probably the last roller coaster I was on. Pretty freaky....

When I was there last year, I didn't make it to the Magic Kingdom. The last time I did do Space Mountain at Disneyworld, I remember it being too light. The one at Disneyland (Before retrofit, which I haven't experienced) was much better.

I've never been to DisneyLand, but the one at DisneyWorld was fun-- once. :D

I used to love roller coasters. As I have aged, they are ok, and I will go on some of them. I tend to get very 'nervous'/ anxious right at the beginning of the ride, almost to the point of wanting the operators to stop the ride:eek:, but the rush afterwards is GREAT!

However, my husband and son don't like them all that much, and my daughter wants to ride ones that a bit much for me now. That nervousness is starting to make me think that my stomach is 'right'

I do like that stomach dropping feeling, and I do enjoy a good drop ride. You know the ones: they take you up high and then drop you when you least expect it? although I did ride one at the South Florida Fair a few years ago, when it was super high, and let me tell you....WHOA! THAT was scary! (we were about 12 miles inland from the ocean, and I could see it when I was at the top of the ride)!

I love them. I went to Disney World in Florida last April and rode everyone I could find.

I also rode the Hulk at universal studios and it was BORING! It looks great and I listened to all the hype, but the only real fun part is getting shot out of the tunnel in the beginning. After that it seemed like it took forever and I got bored going upside down after awhile. I kept thinking, "Is this thing ever going to end? I want to ride something else."

My 40th birthday is coming up. I REAALLLY want to go ride a roller coaster somewhere.

Anyone care to join me?

I am one of those that will ride them if forced too. I am terrified of heights and generally reserve my coaster riding to the smaller ones. I also prefer the ones that have a track that blocks out the ground ahead of me. Those spindly metal ones freak me out in a very bad way. The last one I went on was one of those single tubular track deals that goes up really high and then drops to hell. It took me twenty minutes to stop shaking after getting off of that thing.

My favorite one is a ride called the Gold Rusher at Carowinds in Charlotte, NC. It is a wooden coaster (which I don't mind), has several nifty tips and turns, and doesn't go very high. Instead it goes underground in several places. Now that is cool.

The ride I hate the most is the silly pendulum swinging pirate ship. I can even see one of those things in action from the ground and have a full blown hyperventilating sweating dizzy headed panic attack.

The pirate ships with standing-room cages on either end (sadly haven't seen any in the US) are the best. You can actually feel zero-G for just a few seconds on each swing.

*Yawn* They don't do it for me, too tame. I guess one man's excitment is another's boredom. Swinging like a pendulum doesn't cut it for me. I want the whipping and bashing around that a world class coaster gives you. Different tastes I guess!

I like them. It has been ages. I grew up going to King's Island just outside Cincinnati and Riverside Park just outside Springfield, Massachusetts (it became Six Flags New England when I was in college for my first degree).

I like most types. Wooden ones can be great but I like the suspended ones. I've been on standing ones like the Corba at King's Island (I'm not sure if it's still there).
