Do you know your join date here at TBBS?

An unbelievably damn long time ago, that's all I know.

ETA: And I've had the same avatar for probably 98% of my time here. Do I get an award for that?

It says "December 18, 1999" in my profile, but I remember that I had to register again after some kind of BBS meltdown, so I actually joined before that.

Sure don't.

Nor do I want to talk about the Borg Baby. Or what happened to Gates McFadden during Season 2 of TNG. Or how the Federation economy works without money. Or why the Klingons know Shakespeare. Or why Chakotay and Seven hooked up. Or why Harry Kim never got promoted. Or how Naomi Wildman grew so fast. Or the Borg Baby. Or how people get their hands on Romulan Ale so easily when it's supposed to be illegal. Or why the lawyer in TUC is also named Worf. Or how stupid it is that the Enterprise-D got destroyed by a piece-of-shit Klingon Bird-of-Prey. Or the BORG BABY!

"I know this has probably been asked before, but..." :klingon:

Wow....

Best. Post. Ever.

You win at the interwebs.

^Yeah. I wanted to start a slow clap after that one. Doesn't work very well when you're trying to do it over the internet though. Maybe I should try anyway.

The interwebs had it coming.

Thank you.

I'm not exactly sure, but I remember that Enterprise didn't even have a title yet - it was "Series VI". Actually, I think I was here when that forum was created. Which would make it what... 1999, some time? (How long as the board been around, anyway? Apologies if someone already asked and answered that - I'm only skimming tonight, because it's been at least a week since I was last able to log on and there's too much to read before bedtime.)

Damn, I'm old. :(

I know the feeling. :D

April-ish 1999 was when it started. Did you post under a different name at first, or lurk a while before registering? I can't remember a time when you haven't been here, but your poster account number is around 1400, which (approximately taking deletions into account) probably places your reg date around 2000/2001 rather than the 2002 date in your profile. 2000 would also sync up with ENT not being officially announced yet.

Don't know about this.

My account number is in the 800 range, I believe, and my reg date is in August of 2001. So 2002 might be about right.....

^ fair dues; I was just ballparking his likely reg date off the top of my head, based on the info provided.

ETA: Holy crap. I think I'm going mad. Is it "fair dues", "fair dos", or "fair do's". I just tried typing all three and none look right. I assume it must be dues, as in what's due to someone, but just realised that I don't think I've ever typed it out before. Someone put me out of my misery here. A quick google throws up cites to all three versions...

^ Can't help you on that bit. We Yanks don't use that term. So you could pass any one of them off on us and we wouldn't know any better. We'd just think it was another of your oh-so-quaint-but-mildly-sexy sayings. In which case, you get bonus points regardless.

April 26th, 2001 for me. Yup, my tenth anniversary on this board is coming up. Never dreamed I'd still be here!

I've always used this name (I've never even changed it for Hallowe'en or Christmas), but I can't recall how long I lurked before I made my first post. It probably wasn't long.

And 2000 sounds like it could be right. I know where I was working at the time, and that I didn't have a computer at home (I bought it in late 2002 or early 2003, when my job was outsourced to India and I got tired of lining up at the library to use a computer there to browse the online job ads). So I used to stay late at work for an hour or so and read the board every night.

Come to think of it, I chose my user name because the convention I work on was then called Toronto Trek, and I had just rejoined the committee after a 12-year hiatus in the fall of 2000.

Dec 27 2002.

Me, too. Did you also get caught in the post massacre of '02?

Probably did, I'm sure i remember having to register again in 2002 for some reason but never gave much thought into why.

I got the Internet in 2000 for the first time and i can remember a few of the first sites i went to when i first got online.......TrekBBS, PCZone and Cinemaware....i also remember one of the first game demos i DL 56k dial up...it was Klingon Academy...had to leave the PC on over night, 100 meg...that's was a insane size for downloading.
