The problems started for some people as early as three weeks before but Christmas Eve 2002 is when it went terminal for everyone. My account survived the crash, but not by a whole lot, and the new board went up on 26th or 27th December, depending upon where in the world you happened to be located.
If I recall correctly, the Great Crash happened in either November or December. I'm sure one of the board fossils, like T'Bonz, can tell us. I'll go get her walking stick.
I think my profile claims sometime in 2000 or 2001. It's wrong; one of the server crashes corrupted the date even though the profile itself wasn't lost. I actually registered some time towards the end of August 1999. I had posted as an unregistered user with a different name from about May of that year.

Yeah, I remember the crash. Lost 400+ posts as a result. For someone who doesn't post a great deal, that was about a year's worth of posts gone for me and kept me as a commodore for quite awhile.
But I know some people got hit far, far worse though...
No clue without looking. I just remember that I was Googling around (or Yahooing or whatever) for speculative pictures of what the new Enterprise was going to look like in the as yet not unseen new Trek prequel (which became Enterprise.) So, what would that be, 2000, 2001? Don't remember. I know it was before 2002 because I know we still lived in our old apartment when the show premiered. Whatever the date, it's a long damn time, and some of you lot are starting to get on my nerves.
