Do you have your taxes done?

Our forms are filled out and just waiting to be faxed to our tax man. Yes, we’re getting money back. A surprising amount from the State, so we have to adjust withholding on that to lessen it for next year. But it all goes towards IRAs, so at least there’s savings overall.

Anyone else done? Owing? Refund?

Usually I do them in January or February, but this year they will be a little more complicated so I am waiting until I go see my dad later this week so that we can work on it together.

Yep, mine are done, and I don't owe anything, thank Jebus.

I did our state and federal 2 Sundays ago thru TaxAct. I was supposed to be able to deduct my youngest daughter for the first time but - lo and behold - she turned 17 during the tax year and a new rule cuts her off. So I never got to deduct my kids as dependents.

On the good side, we got extra $$ for upgrading our home windows in the federal return so we are taking the whole thing and paying the remainder of that bill off. Great investment - they look like a million bucks in addition to their energy benefit and only took 6 months to pay for.

btw, I owe the state of Massachusetts $1 lol

I rarely get my done before April 15th. There's usually one or two K-1's that come in late so I have to file for extensions.

Mine are done, but now I have to wait on The Hubby. Ours are a bit of a PITA. Because we're legally married in MA but the Federal Government doesn't recognize our marriage, we each have to do our individual Federal returns (that we'll file); then we have to do a "dummy" Federal return as if they recognized our marriage (that we don't send in) and we, in turn, use those numbers to fill out our State return as married filing jointly.

I'm getting money back, but The Hubby has to pay, so we're hoping my refund counterbalances his payment.

Don'tcha just love this time of year?

Did my taxes back in January, got our refund, and spent it already on getting a new dryer; our old one was slowly dying.

Have to finish them. We owe a bit not a lot so I am waiting until just before the 15th to do them lol

Ours are done. Basically betwen the feds and the state, we broke even.

And yes, we always have a CPA do our taxes. We've had the same guy for many years.

I did my own taxes this year for the first time, actually. I used TurboTax Deluxe Online; it was surprisingly not-difficult.

In the future, however, I'm going to do my taxes separately on at least two services. I realized the merit of this after my girlfriend discovered a significant discrepancy in the refunds reported by TurboTax and TaxHawk. We tracked down the discrepancy eventually and fixed it so they were the same, but she would have missed out on over $1000 in education credits if we hadn't noticed that.

Got most of the way through and then got sidetracked by my medical crisis. I'm hoping to finish before I go in the hospital.

I did them right away. I knew I was moving and would be paying double rent for a month, so I wanted to get my refund to help ASAP to help out.

Probably one of the very few benefits of living in Texas is the fact that there's no state income tax. That saves us a bundle.
