Do you have nicknames for your 'puters?

Desktop PC's:
Yen-Lo-Wang (after the famous battlemech)
The Monolith (big black tower case)

Laptops:
Sojourner (duh)
WaywardSon

Those are the names currently in use. Can't remember past names at the moment.

Ar Tonelico Hymnos Server
Ar Tonelico Tower 1
Ar Tonelico The Second Tower
Ar Tonelico Infel Phira

Wife refers to her laptop as Piece Of Shit, I don't think she's noticed that I renamed it internally... yet. :D

Right now: no name. I don't name them till I've got a year of life out of them. The one I miss though is a old Win95 Compaq (that I still have packed away) that I got the most life out of-- 1996 to 2001, known as "the beast" cause it had a cooling fan that just roar loud as hell.

Mine is currently called "cascade". My previous desktop computer was called "envy" and my first and only laptop was, before it's violent death (caffeine overdose, literally), "Enterprise". I felt that was an appropriate name.

When first booting up, you're asked for a name. So the netbook is "Alva" (Tom Edison), the small laptop is "Albert" (Einstein), and the bigger laptop is "Archimedes" (I was an English major).

Yep. All start with "A."

Why not?

my PC is named Cortana. it was previously called Netrisca, but after it had to be wiped and a new video card installed, I renamed it.

my old PC was called Cerebro.

is anyone detecting a theme here?

Well, I recognize Cerebro, but not the other two.

My first computer was Ignatius, but I don't think I've named any since.

I don't name the machines themselves, but I do name drives. Right now I have:
Serenity
Firefly
The Cortex
AIVAS
The Bin
The Mule
Global

I have the feeling I'm forgetting someone... ;)

My netbook is named "Laura's Little Baby" so when it's shutting down or re-staring it asks "do you want to shut down/re-start Laura's Little Baby?"

My laptop is named "Number One" like Riker :D

No, I don't have names for my computers.

I do, however, have some very specific names for my internet provider. :censored::censored::censored:

fictional computers. Cortana's the AI that aids Master Chief in the Halo games, whilst Netrisca fulfills the same role for Serious Sam

Past Macs:
Mac Classic: "Questor"
Mac IIsi: "Kryten"
Power Mac 6500: "Kosh"
PowerBook G3: "Ozymandias"

Current iBook G4: "Box"
iPod nano: "Logan 5"

I even named my USD stick "Ballard," which does fit in with my Mac and iPod...

I name my computers after planets from the Dune universe.
Linux Desktop: Arrakis
Backup Desktop: Caladan

Mobile: OmniPhone
iPod: OmniPod
External Harddrive: OmniDisk

My computer; which is a bigtower with loads of cooling fans, always seems to collect dust. So I thought it'd be fitting to name it after a desert planet.

My living room computer is known as "Unit-1" but more commonly referred to as "Youbastard."

My bedroom computer is "Unit-2" but I generally just call it "Gateway."

I don't have a "nickname," but for the workgroup computer naming purposes, my old laptop was named "Runabout" since it was portable and could, well, ran about. Naturally, when I upgraded to a bigger and better laptop, I named this one "Defiant". :p
