Do you have nicknames for your 'puters?

Capn Flukie

Well, do ya?

I call my 5 year old Compaq "Bessie", and my new Lenovo Ideapad "Lenny". Also, the nick for my iPaq PDA is "Bob".

Ah, my children, Bessie, Lenny, and Bob. :D

"Stupid bloody thing!" is as near as my computer gets to having a name.

:D

It's always been 'The Big Blue'... my little old puter banger. It's rather vintage but never lets me down - kiss, kiss, kiss. I was thinking the other day tho that I may need to replace the keyboard as some of the letters have worn of :D

^Me too (the keyboard thing) but not because they're worn off (don't really need the 'labels' anyway) but because some of the keys 'stick' :(

Nope, I don't name my things - dunno why really, I tried once and it just felt wrong and made me feel silly :rommie:

I've gone through the following names over the past 8 years: Bender, Flexo, Fatbot, lil'Bender, Angleline, Hedonism Bot.

I named the work one with the date I got it (so the network could find it) June04. So it's Juneo

Um... no. The model numbers suffice fine except for "my desktop." The rest are called TR, QR, Picturebook, T41 and X41.

When I had a Mac back in the 90s, you could name the drive very easily with a right click. So I called it 'Spock.' Since then, no.

Drive names! - I do that!

Internal drives (in the slots in the front of the pooter) are amed internal 1, and internal 2 (need more space now though, so internal 3 and internal 4 will be installed shortly)

I have three external drives: 'big' (my very first 1 TB drive) and 'small' (only 500 GB ;) ) and one USB-drive I named after the manufacturer: 'Apollo'

USB-keychain flash-drives I name 'MEM1' MEM2' and 'MEM3' (and I mark them with a wooden bead the colour of the number (sure, I'm a geek ))

My computers have always been named Boris, named after Boris Badanov. I might call my next computer Natasha.

I habitually name computers and occasionally name computers owned by family members without telling them. My current desktop (custom built PC) is named Athena and my laptop (Macbook Pro) is named Eskarina.

My Asus EEE is called Rover, that's the only one that has a name - mainly because it's the only one that's really mine. The desktop belongs to my husband (I get whichever box isn't currently in pieces as he messes around with the hardware).

I used to have one that I called Spawn of Satan. That was not an term of endearment - it earned that title!

I name lots of things, but for some reason, I don't usually name computers. Odd, now that I think about it.

My laptops seem to have been landed with the name Saskia. I'm currently on Saskia V, Saskia VI is the new and unused model still sitting in the wardrobe.

I have no idea where I got the name from or how it transferred to a machine.

I had a HP laptop awhile back, all shiny and new. I nicknamed it Shep. Unfortunately, while it was pretty, it didn't last long. I haven't named any since then. I go through computers too fast for that.
