Do You Have Any Weird Habits?

Like, things that will make your friends roll their eyes, or make people who don't know you go :wtf: ? Totally mundane, or way out there, let's here it!

Me, when I cut a sandwich diagonally, I always eat the part with the curved crust of the bread first. No idea why...I just do.

I still sleep with the baby blanket I was wrapped in as a baby 43 years ago. It is pretty much a rag now, but I refuse to get rid of it.

Some of my weird habits:

- In any large city I happen to be in, I will find its subway or light rail (if it has them) and quite happily ride around on it with no destination in mind

- being almost 40 and watching VeggieTales

- Rooting for both the Yankees and the Mets in baseball

- Locking my car when it's in my garage at home

- Having New Age music playing when I go to bed at night

When I get bored I start knawing on my fingertips biting at the skin. If I don't watch myself, I'll bite through to the red flesh underneath and it'll be sensitive for a day or two!

Listening to DVD commentaries through the stereo with the TV turned off as I relax on the sofa. Obviously I tend to fall asleep a lot doing this. Nice.

-When I get bored, I like to choreograph detailed fight scenes with the people around me in my head.

-Climb up the stairs, not just with my feet, but my hands as well

-Anytime I see change (as in quarters, dimes, etc.) I always arrange them in a stack from smallest to largest

-To add to that, when I buy something, I always try to beat the cash register to how much change I get (if I haven't already calculated it)

-I always move my fingers. I can't let my arms hang limp, so I always wiggle my fingers against my outer thighs.

I do this too. In fact, last time I was in Montreal, I got on the Metro specifically to go to stations I haven't been to before, as the architecture at many of them is quite spectacular.

Er, yes, I suppose my weird thing is that I love transit. I'm also an urbanist... I love cities and towns, and whenever I visit a new place I have to go out and spend a couple of hours wandering around taking pictures. I even did this when I visited Saskatoon last January. And if you've ever been in Saskatchewan in January, you know this takes dedication. :p

There are very few non-dairy foods which I don't find are improved by a little bit of salt.

wouldn't call it a weird habit, just annoying . . .
I snap my fingers and tap on tables to the beat in my head
I do the thing where I snap with both hands and then clap my right hand over my left hand which is in a 'o' shape, and I can change the pitch depending on how I place my fingers
like hitting a bottle of ketchup is the closest I can describe it . . .
snapsnap clap snapsnap clap
knuckle cracking . . . also annoying, not weird

umm . . . can't really think of anything else at the moment

I had a feeling someone was going to catch onto that. But yeah, it's a real habit. I had no idea other people did it either...

Me too. I wish Omaha (where I live) had some decent mass transit. All we have now is some lameass bus service, and that's not worth it. I generally don't like riding buses. If we had a subway, or a light rail of any kind, I would ride on it, even if I didn't need to. I'd just get on board and go exploring.

(I remember back in '06 when I went to St. Louis to see the new Busch Stadium, I discovered the MetroLink...I thought, shit, I could have USED that back when I was at Wash. U! Unfortunately they didn't start building the MetroLink until after I graduated. :brickwall: )

In fact the first time I learned how to ride the New York City subway, I spent almost a whole DAY riding around on it, to random destinations. I'd get off at a subway station I'd never been to before, walk around in it for awhile, then get right back on the train and ride some more. I still do that, in fact. (All you New Yorkers who happen to be reading this: How many tourists do you know of, who've willingly taken the G train?)

And speaking of New York, I have a couple of other habits:

- I eat at the same place for lunch every day, without fail. Katz's Deli, on the Lower East Side. In fact they call me "Cheesesteak man" (I kid you not) because that's what I always order. :p

- I found a new game I like to play when I visit the city. It sharpens my powers of observation and keeps me alert. It's a game I like to call Spot The Lesbians! :D

No, everything I do is 100% normal

Same here, although some of my friends would disagree.

For example, it drives one of my friends nuts that every time we eat out, wherever we go, I order the large size cup and put ice water in it. He can't stand that for some reason.

It's perfectly normal.

^ I do the same thing but I am not sure it is normal. I just know I don't drink soda and hate having to ask/get a refill ever five minutes.

As for my weird habit, I am OCD about cleanliness, so much so you could do major surgery in my kitchen without fear. However, I usually have one closet and one drawer that is a complete and total mess. I can't help it. I think that my brain is expressing its need for a little disorder to break up the monotony.

I also refuse to drive if I can get away with it. I have never been fond of it and hate having passengers. It makes me very nervous.
