Have you, or have you ever had a criminal record. Doesn't matter about specifics, unless you don't mind sharing, poll is anonymous.

As for me, I've never had a criminal record.

Nope - and as I don't drive I don't even having as much as a parking ticket. I am totally squeaky clean.

Yes, for civil disobedience -- taking part in a couple peaceful but illegal protest demonstrations.

My record is utterly clean. Never had so much as a moving violation. Never seen the inside of a jail cell or holding tank. Never even had to go before a judge for anything more serious than a small claims dispute over a medical charge for a procedure that I received after specifically telling the doctor not to perform without first verifying that my insurance would cover it.

No, which considering some of the shit I pulled as a kid, is a minor miracle in itself.

I do break the Controlled Substances (cannabis) and Copyright (downloading TV shows) laws on a relatively regular basis, though.

:techman:

I got in trouble with da police in middle school once, so I voted 'expired'. Had to do like 30 hours of community service... laaaame.

I feel quite dull for saying so, but no. The closest thing I've got is a ticket. I ticket I got while riding a bicycle.

Sometimes I lament my misspent teen years. I was all busy with academia and getting into a good university and scoring a minimum of 1400 on the SATs. I should have been running away and vandalizing property and getting drunk and tripping.

No, that's what you're supposed to do once your in college. Then it's okay, and you don't get in trouble because you're "just a dumb college kid," so people let it slide. ;)

Oh my, yes. Only been charged with a felony once, though.

Would they only ever asked these kind of questions on Internet fora, and not on job applications. Unless it's a daycare center and I touched children, it's not relevant, assholes.

No.

But this would have been more fun as a public poll.

It goes without saying - but I'll say it - that not having a criminal record is not the same as not having committed felonies. When I was investigated for a top secret clearance in 1983, I had to write out a long statement and be interviewed about certain, ah, violations of federal law I'd committed in my youth. I was more willing to fail the security investigation than I was to lie (and deal with the potential other consequences of that); fortunately, the DIA was satisfied that I had "rehabilitated myself." ;)

Have you ever made an attempt to get your felony waived or expunged?

Well, I did do all that in college. Well, some of it anyway (I'd never vandalize property!). I still wish I'd got some of my rebellion out as a minor, though. Now I have to much more clever about it, which is fine, and still fun, but in a way just not the same.

Or at least I'll have to wait until my art starts making enough money that a criminal record won't affect my future earning potential. Hell, it could even be beneficial to my writing career!

Worst I ever got was a speeding ticket. No actual crimes to speak of.

Yeah, yeah, I know, it's not at all exciting. Big deal. I'd much rather be boring and free, than be some badass rebel and in jail or dead.
