Do You Generally Believe Posters on the BBS?

I have a very hard time believing my own posts. [Muhahahahahahaaa! - ZR] See what I mean?! :p

I generally believe someone when they first start posting, but when they start to become fast and loose with the truth, I generally doscount them after that.

There's only a couple of posters like that, with their hypothetical threads and thought experiments and so on. I deal with enough RL shit to deal with it here as well.

That said, as others have pointed out, across teh interwebz I keep the BS detector on.

Generally I do, usually the bullshit is pretty obvious and you get to know which posters are 'more believable' than others. But with anything online, it's best to take things with a grain of salt.

I think most people on the BBS can be trusted to tell the truth...as they understand it.

For the most part, I don't think the average poster would deliberately lie. There are matters though where I would not, indeed do not, believe what has been posted.

Without naming names, there are some posters who have shown a rather poor grasp of science. Therefore, in a scientific thread, I would regard their comments as dubious. On a non science based thread, I'd be more inclined to accept their views.

I know this sounds a little crazy..but I believe posters more here than I would on MySpace! But if they're lying it's not as if I know them in real life so..I try to also take everything with a grain of salt and only believe 50% of what i hear on a daily basis. I'm very gullible at times though and would believe anything that was told to me by someone.
