Do you consider Sisko a God?

Alot of people say Sisko is a God because he is half of the alien beings but I look at him as more of a Hercules type. A man with some special senses and powers.

What do you guys think?

I know I was shocked at the end of DS9 because I just never imagined there being a Starship Captain who was part God. Picard I thought was close having his relationship with Q but Sisko took it to another level.

I never saw him that way. Just as the Emissary: the one who helped the Prophets understand those like him and the one who helped those like him understand the Prophets. Besides, if he actually had been godly, he would have used his abilities to win the war. Because, as you said, this is Sisko we're talking about, not Picard.

Nope, IMO Sisko is a wormhole alien, not a god.

I was very taken aback when I heard Ira talking about they were supposed to be turning Sisko into a god in WYLB because fans turn Trek captains into gods so he wanted to literally turn a Trek Captain into a god. I had seen WYLB several times before I heard the interview where Ira said that, and not once during any of those times watching WYLB did it ever occur to me that "Sisko is supposed to be a god now".

Good for you though, USSFiercemight, for picking up on this. It shows that at least some fans "got" what they were trying to do there.

^

Ah. So did it occur to you that Sisko was supposed to be a god the first time you watched WYLB, before you saw the Ira interview saying so?

I don't consider Sisko a god, just a badass. Whenever I watch "for the uniform", I appreciate Sisko even more. Spencaaaaaahhh!

I don't know what WYLB is. And yes I did see him as half a god before I saw the Ira interview. I watched every show and wouldn't watch any of the behind the scenes stuff from any season till the I watched the final episode. Then I watched all the behind the scenes from all the seasons and cried.

To think of him as a god, I might have needed to see him maybe DO something other than appear in a vision and imply he may some day return to mortality. That isn't exactly making a fleet of Dominion ships go poof. I don't think Q will be getting jealous any time soon.

He's not a "god" but he is the Emissary.

The gods use him as their vehicle and tool to accomplish their goals for Bajor.

^ True, that.

BTW: Is Sisko 1/2 prophet since his dad is still Joseph Sisko and his mom is a Prophet?

It would be more like he is a "step-Prophet". His mum was "possessed" by a Prophet to make sure he was conceived but both of his parents were Human. He really didn't have any special powers or senses.

Humm,

This would point to the fact Jake isn't consider 1/4 prophet.

I agree. I don't think him a god or an alien. He was born to human parents. He was 'taken up' by the prophets to become a more effective or useful Emissary. He's with them, doing his lessons.

I think Sarah was doing a bit of mind manipulation to convince the Emissary to complete his mission, to fulfill the purpose they had for him. She may have guided his birth, but she wasn't his mommy.

If you think about it the best term for "Sarah" would be breeder.
