The view-screen will also probably be similar to Discovery's. Come to think of it, we never actually saw the view-screen in "The Cage".

Captain Pike begs to differ.

Ironically, I think the only major differences will be more detailed furnishings, richer/deeper grays & silvers, and the flashing/blinking lights will be replaced with actual read-outs with graphics similar to the Discovery. Hey, the changes you describe sound eminently reasonable to me! Heck, I'd even be copacetic with a wider viewscreen. (Not a window, though. No reason to go crazy!)

It's kinda strange how we shift our expectations, isn't it... how the 4:3 ratio we all grew up with in our homes and offices now looks conspicuously narrow in this age of 16:9 everywhere?...

It'll be a shitstorm either way.

I figure it will be the same layout with all the stations in the same place. Colors will more muted with the panels being touchscreens replacing the function of the buttons. The closeups of the screens on Discovery look similar to the buttons and dials of TOS era tech, but it's just a screen instead of a physical dial. The screens with space scenes will probably have a lot of data like they're monitoring certain planets. I figure Constitution class ships were more designed for long range missions and had to be more all purpose. Discovery was a specialized science vessel for missions closer to home. The uniforms themselves might be blue because they're all technically supposed to be scientists and fall under science division. Even the admiral that we've met was a doctor.

The uniforms will probably be close to The Cage using the same colors, but more detailed. The Starfleet delta will probably be something close to the JJ films but in gold. Basically imagine that this is the real version and the pilot was an attempt to recreate it with the technology of the day.

This is true. Back when they used to show movies (and some shows) in 16:9 -- when I still had a 4:3 TV -- I thought that looked odd. "Why do we have to have the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen?" Now it's the other way around.

I agree everything you said. Except I think it would pretty hard for the interior color scheme to become more muted than it was in "The Cage". ;)

Windows with a HUD make more sense on a human level. If I were viewing some astronomical event that no one had ever seen before I think I'd prefer seeing it through a window instead of a video screen.

The only thing I don't like about a window is I hope it's possible to cover it up or change it to reflect outwards, like security windows. The option to switch to security windows would come in handy if you're trying to deceive an enemy who can peak through.

I think you answered your own question.

I did. Sometimes I post while I'm actually in the process of thinking something out. And I figure, "Why stop? Just keep going. Why not let everyone see how I figured it out?" ;)

Plus, I haven't seen Star Trek (2009) since 2011. So there's that. Fuzzy memory. Just like not remembering seeing the view-screen in "The Cage". Or it's late at night (what the hell am I talking about "late at night?" it's only 10:42!). Bleh.

Perhaps try that sleep thing I've heard so much about?

They close the blinds.

I still don't understand why people cant accept that aesthetics differences to tech are due to having different contractors working on Starfleet ships during this era ...and the fact that we've seen Starfleet use different uniforms frequently is another.

Oh...wait...it's because people like to have problems with stuff. Yes. Definitely more fun than finding plausible rationales for inconsistencies within a franchise that one is supposedly a fan of.
Essentially they cant handle change and think reality will bend to their will if they complain loudly enough.

If that doesn't work they will go setup a facebook page that no one will join, misery loves company.

Oh and they also think they know better than everyone else because they are the only true fans of the show.

Its all rather pointless.

Clearly you haven't seen the Enterprise bridge in ST: TMP. :p

See? This is what happens when you post tired!

Could be worse though. At least I wasn't posting while drunk. Which has happened before. A couple of times I think I actually moderated while drunk! Yup, I've got stories...
