And share "GENE'S VISION!!!!"

Boy, for a show that promoted desegregation and the "human journey" this fan base can sure be segregated...O_o
I think we've fallen into two camps. Those that can admit to failings and the apologists. That happens in most 'fan' bases :)

There's a difference between "failings" and "Not Real Trek."

DISCO has its failings. I just don't think there is anything makes it more egregious than other Trek, especially in the first season. And, people are welcome to disagree. My frustration comes from the unloving criticism that seems to fly on the Internet in these discussions. The idea that "no characters in Star Trek would ever act this way" rings very hollow to me because of how much Trek is out there.

If it isn't to personal preference for whatever reason, again that's ok. But, the idea of branding it "Not Prime!" "Not Canon!" and on and on feels very trite and silly to be taken seriously as rebuttal against DISCO.

Oh, it's Prime. Just a corner of the Prime Starfleet and Federation we never saw because the only episodes or films set during the 2250s before DSC premiered were "The Cage" and the flashback scenes in "The Menagerie, Parts I and II." We literally saw almost nothing of Starfleet or the Federation as they looked and behaved a decade before TOS. That allows some leeway in writing and production design.

We can argue if said writing is good or the aforementioned production design doesn't look nor feel "right," but it is set during an era we'd seen almost nothing about.

I love fan logic like this. It's no different than saying something like "I've seen all of TNG and you never see Picard's gentials. Therefore it's canon he doesn't have any."

Anyway, Archer IV, Yesterday's Enterprise

Well they just better not show a bathroom on discovery before we know in TNG times starships don't have any of those.

Welp, I'm off to create a new speculative thread in the TNG forum.

Stargazers and Crotchgazers.

The thread that will surprise you.

Officially? Yes, it's canon.

To me personally? I'm mixed about it, but I don't mind it, either. The technology, aesthetics, and even the plots (at least S3 and S4) make it feel like more like a sequel to Enterprise than as a prequel to TOS, and I'm perfectly fine with that. Enterprise, like all of its predecessors, deserves a follow up show.
