Do you consider Cardassians "reptilian"?

I know Andrew Robinson has referred to their thinking as "reptilian" and some people calling them lizard men but to me after watching the series for over 30 years, they never looked reptilian to me. I cant be the only one that thinks they look like humanoid mammalians like humans, bajorans, klingons etc.

Scales, ridges, and sensitivity to cold weather aren't exclusive to reptiles.

To me I always so the Cardassian scales more similar to Armadillos

I dont know but for me I never saw Cardassians as reptilians the same way the Jem Hadar, Voth, etc. Also note that Cardassians have hair like many mammals and give birth. Yes I know some snake species give birth as well but they do not have hair like the cardassians do. Cardassians also seem to have no issue interbreeding with other mammalian species like Bajoran, Kazon, etc and the episode the chase seems to explain on mammalian humanoid life forms sharing the same distant ancestry.

Cardassian women have tits. That's a mammalian trait. But of course, it's bee stated Cardassians are reptilian, so of course they have to be. Just like Starfleet isn't a military.

Too soon?

Good question. It's possible I might be thinking of the novels.

I'll just recede quietly into the night now.

Cardassians and Bajorans are the same species. Cardassia is a Bajoran colony of a lost civilization from 200,000 years ago. They were genetically engineered for the Cardassian climate with reptilian DNA.

The Cardassians figured this out when researching their Hebitian ancestors. The military then took over the government and hid this fact.

Long ago on Cardassia, a primitive ape like being with crinkled hands saw a really sexy armadillo. they looked at each other, Dreamweaver started playing and somehow it just worked out. Their union is immortalized by a spoon on each Cardassians head for reasons that only prosthesis designers understand.

No, they don't seem reptilian to me, either. Some sort of mammalian humanoids reasonably closely related to the Bajorans, since they can interbreed without invasive medical intervention. I presume such wouldn't be available on a Cardassian prison camp on Bajor...

And I have to agree that some of the most memorable characters in all of ST are Cardassian, Garak, Damar and Dukat.

A poster who isn't here anymore proposed in her fan fics and pro-Cardie threads that Cardassians were theraspids.

I must say it never really occurred to me Cardassians could have been reptilian in nature. To me they look like mammals- even if they have scaly skins.

Then again, I'd be hard-pressed to say what exactly makes the Voth look reptilian and the Cardies mammalian to me. Perhaps it's as simple as being told the Voth are reptilian.
