Well I think we ought to club together and send some to Baba to light up his life! The rest of us are shiny happy people :)

So I've apparently caught something from you folks. There I was, looking at my small but vivid collection of weirdly colored canning jars (dark red, cobalt blue, acid green, lilac, etc.), and it suddenly came to me...wouldn't it look cool if I put "fairy lights" in them so that the colors would show up better?

Decorating ideas from the Trek BBS. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Could be worse ~ it could have been swine fever you caught :guffaw:.
Absolutely with the jars! Sounds like they'd glow and look fabulous :techman:.
Pics please:)

A good thing. Next: Automatic sliding doors. :D

I have that tip too . According to QI ~ a quiz show in UK ~ the original sound effect for the sliding doors in TOS was made by sliding a piece of A4 paper into and out of an envelope! Close your eyes and do it yourself, tip ~ envelope must be A4 size too .

 Ok, so now we've learnt fairy lights + air pistols + kids = bad idea :guffaw:

Back in the old days when the lights on these weren't LED's they tended to burn out - when a certain percentage had burned out the whole thing came to be useless in the conventional use for such things. I'd take the whole ting and lock it in a jar like you describe -stilll have a couple of those jars somewhere.
