I honestly find the entitlement of some fans to be astounding.
Not only that, but the armchair directing that seems convinced that somehow the fans know exactly what Star Trek, and that must never change, will somehow produce a better show.
I don't get it.
I'm greedy and I'm really loving DSC. My wife and I are watching a first-run Star Trek show together for the first time, and we are really enjoying it, and that's special for me. So to me, yeah...I get very disappointed when the episodes are shorter. I want to stay in that world and enjoy myself for as long as possible! And, like with all things, when you're having fun, time seems to go even faster...so it makes the shorter episodes seem even more brief.
But I don't "deserve" anything. They are cutting these episodes to the length that they feel allows the best flow and pace to get the story across...so that's what we get.

The entire season is 60 minutes, season three is 15 minutes long, four can only be viewed in slow motion.
It's astounding that some people find 37 minutes too few for an episode? Your astonishment threshold is lower than mine.
If it was an excellent 17 minutes, sure! Only five or so minutes longer than an episode of Metalocalpyse or Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job!I'd be curious to see the reactions of "We are owed nothing, they story took that long to tell" people is an episode were 17 minutes long.

I don't think its as much about the length as it is about the content.
The last episode had a fair bit left they could have done. More time between Loreal and VOQ tyler, to really capture her emotional debate and her loss, her sorrow. More time between Mike and GeorgeYo. I mean all this build up, there could and should have been more moments between them.
The dialogue was good and "explained" things sufficiently but there was so much more space for more subtle moments that really define connection, regret, love and loss.
An extra five minutes of subtlety goes a super long way

Isn't that subjective? Value is often in the eye of the beholder.
I was so worn out after that 37 minutes that never noticed it was short. I’ve never had to worry before that one of my beloved characters would not make it through an episode. That is a real possibility here.
