Do People Under 30 Like This Movie Better Than Older Folks?

I am 33 and i was disappointed with the film. Visual effects and overall look of the film was great and the casting was good though i still have problem with Pegg as guffy Scotty and Greenwood as Pike. Biggest beef i have with this film is the plot holes and bad writing especially in the middle of the film . I was shaking my head during entire Delta Vega scene.

Despite my terrible dodderiness and impending death I did not find it fast paced at all.

Of course if you compare it to the TNG era it was, but they were on drugs.

I'm actually in the middle of a TNG marathon right now and at times I want to gouge my eyeballs out because the show can be mind-numbingly boring. There has to be a happy medium between old Trek and new...

There's not. You have to go with the new.

I think you know the wrong old people. I'm over fifty and seem to enjoy modern "ADHD, too fast-paced" or however-people-want-to-label-it entertainment about as much as anyone I know. OTOH, older and slower tv shows and movies don't bother me a bit because I grew up with them.

I'll be 34 a week from today. Loved it. So did my mother. :) As well as my aunt, who is arguably The Trekkie of the family. Have yet to hear how the rest of my family liked it.

I'm never going to live those comments down, am I? :)

I praised the movie to my older friends at work, but I knew it wouldn't appeal to them. It just depends on the person.

I've been 16 for ten years now and I thought it was a very cool film. Of course, I do not possess a long-term memory worth mentioning. :p

I'm 51 and I liked it a lot. I didn't love it, but then again, I haven't loved a single one of the Trek movies, and I liked this one more than most of them - in some cases a LOT more. And the friend I saw it with, who is a little older than me (56 I think) liked it as much as I did.

And my mother, who is 75 and a Trek fan since the dawn o'Trek time, really liked it, too.

Maybe we're atypical...but then again, maybe not.

I'm coming up on 26 and I loved it. But I also recognize it as something different, a different approach to the universe. I grew up starting with TNG, am a die hard Niner and have a lot of love for TOS. My favorite Prime movie is UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY.

That said, in a way, I feel like the new movie is kind of a delivery on the promise of TOS, before the TOS movies. I think the six films are still the perfect way to age the characters and round them out.
