Do people still believe in Hell?

It seems pretty shitty to torture people for eternity for a finite crime. Even someone who is "pure evil" is likely suffering from some sort of mental illness and may not be fully in control of their actions. I don't even think that Hitler deserves eternal punishment, after a certain point he's suffered enough. I really don't think people put much thought into the idea of eternity, which to me is deeply horrifying.
Yeah you would think an immortal omniscient being would be able to have a cosmic-level of understanding of his creation. Most truly "evil" people have mental disorders, a history of abuse or neglect, etc. I find it unfathomable that a loving God would design a universe that through sheer chance produces people with psychosis or whatever and then punishes his creation for behaving in accordance with the circumstances of their existence which was by God's own design. Makes no sense unless God enjoys setting up pins only to knock them down. But what kind of god would enjoy that, right?

Hail Satan and so forth. Lol

In what way did you find my posts intolerant? I'm genuinely curious because I certainly don't read that into them.
I don't find you intolerant, Emilia.. quite the opposite though I think there is this tiresome need for Locutus to reference me in his posts .. not just my opinions but as me. He will say I am playing victim but it is what it is. Then all the suck ups hit 'like' and it becomes weird. Like mean girls or something. I have to wonder just how genuine people are when they preach their alternative to the opposite of Christian tolerance is. I don't see the 'better' example at all.

I think Locutus is referring to you because you're one of the only Christians in this thread about a typically Christian topic, so in order for this discussion to be more interesting than just a bunch of atheists high fiving each other, a dialogue between different viewpoints is preferable.

But I can't speak for @Locutus of Bored

I already said why I felt it was necessary to cite you in my posts. It was to differentiate between your beliefs about Hell and that of Christians as a whole who do not all share that viewpoint. Did you or did you not say it?

I don't think the latter is a fair characterization of what is happening. People like posts because they agree with something, but that does not make them "suck ups". I don't think it is anybody's intention to gang up on you personally. Calling people "suck-ups" strikes me as unnecessarily rude and ad hominem.

Sorry, E, not sucking up. I liked your post because I agree with it.

It's true though. People ask me to answer them and then complain when I do.. Let's see all the suck ups pile on ;)

Instead of hitting 'like', we should just post 'aye' after every sentiment we agree with.

It will certainly not get old fast, and we will all sound like pirates. Pirates are cool. Like bow ties.

Does that mean that we can say "aye" both to a post and to the people saying "aye" to it, to indicate that we agree with the agreement as well as to the post itself?
