Do Isolated tribes still exist

Crewman47

Reading this article on Yahoo News I was just wondering if isolated tribes like those found in South America, and I think parts of Africa, would still exist in the advanced society of the 24th century or do you suppose that by at least the 22nd or 23rd century they would have eventually integrated themselves into the modern world. Could you imagine that if they do still live in isolation from the rest of the modern world what do you suppose there way of life would be like, if it was still how they live just now or evolved (for lack of a better term) to a different way of life.

Now I know that by TNG there were Indian tribes from Earth that decided to pack up and leave Earth in search of new lands, and then there were the Tribes of people who were presumably taken from Earth by the Preservers but what if there were still pockets of isolated tribes, maybe even still undiscovered, living in the 24th century?

The only way I can picture isolated tribes still existing on Earth in the 24th century, is if a Prime Directive type protocol is put into effect in our time to protect them.

Probably not undiscovered since it should, in theory, be possible to scan the entire planet for pockets of lifesigns.

Left alone, however, sure. If such people wanted to be left alone then the Federation would respect that.

I don't know, I think that between the Eugenics Wars and then World War Three, that any hidden tribes may have been accidentally wiped out or used for slave labor or something.

In the Voyager episode Tattoo they did a flashback where Chakotay's father took him to South America to find a tribe of people living in the jungle.

Yes. But by that time instead of loin cloths and bows and arrows, the primitives will have spandex and cell phones. ;)

Weren't they on another planet? Although regardless, the people were aliens anyway.

The Dorvan tribesleader in TNG said that their tribe had left earth a couple of centuries ago and wandered, because for one reason or another, they couldn't live in peace on earth.

I imagine that isolated tribes still exist, and that they and their autonomy are respected, but that those tribes also have a means of contacting or being contacted by the larger world if, for instance, someone wishes to leave the tribe or whatnot.

No, I'm talking about the tribe visited by the aliens. THe live on Earth in the jungle of Central or South America.
