Do any of you use a standing desk?

I've been working remotely for the last year and I've started thinking about getting an adjustable desk so I can stand periodically during the work day. I'm assuming some of you who work from home have one and am curious which one you use?

I'm looking for one like this, but, I just fear the thing may break down at some point, based on reviews. Of course, as I continue searching for similar products, almost all reviews have something bad to say about the very thing I fear, so. I'm not really on a budget because this would be a true investment as I'm working from home for the foreseeable future.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I actually bought a standing desk for home at the start of the pandemic, which is a hand crank model, and I love it. I was concerned that the motorized one would break, leaving the desk in a bad position. Plus the hand crank ones are cheaper.
Here is the Amazon link to it: Amazon.com: Stand Steady Tranzendesk 55 in Standing Desk with Clamp On Shelf | Easy Crank Height Adjustable Stand Up Workstation w/Attachable Monitor Riser | Holds 3 Monitors & Adds Extra Desk Space (55”/Silver): Kitchen & Dining

Now that I'm back in the office, I purchased a desk top unit, which raises up and allows me to stand. Link: Amazon.com: VIVO Black Height Adjustable 36 inch Stand up Desk Converter Quick Sit to Stand Tabletop Dual Monitor Riser (DESK-V000V): Furniture & Decor

Both are great, however the stand alone desk has more space, but to alternate standing throughout the day, the desk top unit works just fine.

I would recommend getting a wobble board, or something to stand on which doesn't keep your feet flat on a hard surface. Micro movements also help strengthen your core. This is basically the one that I have at home: Amazon.com: FEZIBO Standing Desk Mat with Anti Fatigue Bar, Wooden Wobble Balance Board with Ergonomic Design Comfort Floor Mat (Medium, Obsidian Black): Home & Kitchen.

Question? Is it okay to get a standing desk and then use a chair while working from it? If not how is this not a torture device sent from the depths of Hell? God can you imagine the leg pain Dorn had to deal with on TNG when using the first ever standing desk for 7 years.

You can lower it to normal desk height and use a chair. Poor Worf had it rough, but at least he got a stool just in time for the E-D to get blown to bits. Hopefully they were able to salvage it.

It's funny how people always talked about Starfleet ships needing seatbelts but what about poor Worf or the people working the back science stations who have to stand. They don't stand a chance when the ship starts shaking. We saw how it would always end if done realistically in "Generations" when the one guy goes flying over the console and over the Captains chair and everything. What they need is magnetic boots like in "The Expanse" or even "Face/Off." "Face/Off" of all movies was using better science than even Trek at the time.

I'm looking for a desk and and had never heard of these adjustable models before but I can see how they can be useful. During my desk purchasing quest I've discovered 73 inches is a standard desk height and using a tape measure the small foldable table I'm using now is 73 inches high. I don't need it to be higher but I need more width and length so am about to buy an office desk from Amazon for the £150 mark. I could get a better deal buying second hand but because of lockdown they are closed. Most home desks I've seen mean the monitor is just inches from my eyes and I can't work like that. As I type this the monitor is about 1ft away and that's too close. I'll probably put the monitors on the foldable table I'm using now behind the new desk to give that extra distance.

Edit: rather than edit my post I thought I should highlight my stupidity by pointing out I meant the height of my desk is 73cm and not 73 inches.

But they are all dead now. Maybe because of using a standing desk?

Did they all die of plantar fasciitis?

I have lower back issues, so standing for 5 minutes can be painful, let alone for hours. But a co-worker at my last job also had back problems and he needed the adjustable setup so he could switch between standing and sitting.

They actually sound interesting in how you can lower and raise them but I wonder about stuff you keep on them. Do you got to take everything off when you adjust them. Does one need a extension cord for a computer on a standing desk due to sockets being low to the ground. Jason

WW2 fleet commander Raymond Spruance always worked at a stand-up desk, both ashore and in his flagship at sea.
