D'Kora / Galor / D'deridex Deck Plans?

I would really like to a design of deck plans of some of the other well known capital ships from the ST universe, like the Ferengi D'Kora-class Marauder and the Cardassian Galor-class Destroyer. Even a boat as iconic as the Romulan D'deridex-class Warbird lacks a series of deck plans to my knowledge. What gives? Why the snub? Will these ships ever get the full schematic treatment that they deserve?
 
No idea so far why the lack of attention to these designs. I'd be particularly intrigued to see what results from an attempt to work out the interiors of the d'Deridex class myself.
 
I imagine one reason no one's done a D'deridex is that the thing is so huge. Even a relatively small ship like the Miranda or Nova can be a pain in the ass to create basic plans for, so it's not surprising no one's tried with such a large ship, particularly when we know nothing about its internal layout.
 
^^^ Agreed. The official E-D deck plans show how much stuff is inside the Enterprise with arguably the largest amount of internal volume than all other ships with that name. The E-D can fit easily in between the upper and lower wing halves of a Warbird, to give an idea of scale. Doing deck plans for that would be a rather time- and cost-prohibitive undertaking.

Now the Galor and D'Kora may be more do-able, but I think the interest in these would be more limited than the D'Deridex. While easily recognizable within the fandom, not quite as iconic.
 
Even the D'Kora would take a ton of work. It is the same length as the Ent-D, but its internal volume is much greater.
 
The D'Deridex is a huge starship, but insofar as I could tell, only the bow portion (the "beak") and a small portion in the stern appear to be habitable space. The top and bottom superstructure ("wings") are seemingly thick enough to have some habitable space as well, but we see no lights that would indicate portholes or windows, so I would imagine any spaces in the wings would be cargo bays or such.

At one point I saw a side-by-side view of the Galaxy-class primary hull with the D'Deridex beak, and the beak was almost twice again the height of the entire Galaxy-class, but we also know it's not nearly as wide as the Galaxy's saucer. I would be surprised if the beak took up as much volume as the entire Galaxy-class.
 
Some of you are familiar with this MSD-style cross section. The D'Deridex has 82 decks, and to show them in this size I had to use dark-green lines and highlight every tenth deck, by generating a repeating grid and overlaying the outline over it. Imagine drawing a large, detailed floor plan for each deck. It would have to be done with a custom-made computer program that accepted paramaters for each deck and rendered it acccordingly. Even then, we know very little about what's inside.

And just to get this little drawing right I had quite a bit of help from TrekBBS members, especially DS9Sega and Andrew Probert, who designed this vessel and told us about some details not actually seen onscreen. Just to get past the conflicting information out there and do one drawing like this takes a lot of research and sometimes help from the original designer. With deck plans it's bound to be much more complicated.

In your research of the D'Deridex, was there ever a stated reason for the gigantic void between the two hulls? An interesting design, but a lot of empty space that appears to be there for no apparent ship functionality reason, and increases the power necessary for defensive shields. I think you could almost fit a Galaxy-class in there, if you separated it, slid it in sequentially, then docked it again...
 
LCARS 24, what doesn't make sense to me about your drawing there is that you seemed to ignore the fact that the wings are quite concaved on the insides. A cross section should indicate that the upper and lower areas of that ship are really much thinner than you've drawn them. I gotta say I really like most of your work but this one's a little disappointing for me...

An interesting design, but a lot of empty space that appears to be there for no apparent ship functionality reason, and increases the power necessary for defensive shields. I think you could almost fit a Galaxy-class in there, if you separated it, slid it in sequentially, then docked it again...

I think the open space was to comply with the design rule of having more than 50% line of sight between the inboard warp-field grills of the nacelles. Also, Andrew Probert's painting for the Ships of the Line Calendar showed shuttles landing in there.

Here's a photo of the canon MSD. It's bit distorted, since it was photographed from and angle. But you can see that it's pretty much the same other than showing fewer decks in this display mode. Pressing a button on the Romulan panel should make it change modes and show all the decks.

I see where you're coming from and I don't disagree. You've certainly followed the on-screen one nicely and there are arguments to make this sensible. But for my money, I pretty much disregard all MSDs except those for hero ships (i.e. 1701-D and Voyager, not really Defiant).

OTOH, you clearly have spent more time with the LCARS stuff than I and I really do respect your work. I inevitably enjoy your threads when you start a new one. Allow me to clarify that my disappointment lies with the source material, not your execution. Re-reading my post I can see it comes off differently. My bad.

A good way to hide two assets--two smaller ships with independant power, weapons, etc. A sneak attack. Warbird never drops cloak, smaller already full powered up ships emerge from cloak. An enemy views this as two vessels that have power for both cloak and shields.

They never know the bigger Warbird was ever there...waiting.

That big void in between the two hulls would be the perfect size for four Cardassian Galor-class ships all side-by-side, protected by the D'deridex's shields...wonder how long the ships involved with the attack on the Founders world would gone on if they'd been able to circle the wagons, so to speak.
