Today I got this little gem for the PSP, the 10 heros and villans from the first 10 FF games are summoned to battle it out for the side of good and evil, after a few hours of play I have to admit that this game is a definate step up from Ehrgeiz (Square's last attempt at a fighting game) but not by much.
Instead of direct attack commands you have an attack that damages your enemies HP and an attack that damages his Bravery, weakening your enemies bravery lessens the ammount of damage he does.
The stages, based around areas in the previous 10 FF games, are very elaborate and well made, but are a pain in the ass, they are too large for 1 on 1 fighting (the only kind) and the charaters are too slow in relation to the levels.
Story mode (the first part atleast) is comprised of each charater going through his/her own 5 sets of chessboard like levels with fights and treasures, fun, right? nope there is a move counter in the corner and whenever you do an action, it clicks down by one, dropping the end of level bonus, and it is damned hard to beat a level before the counter reaches 00 and near impossible to come out ahead.
i'll add on more when I have had more time to play through it
