This thread is to condense DumbDumb2007's various threads discussing thoughts on the various waterways around NYC and Long Island into one.

Okay, guys, this isn't an open season on DumbDumb2007 thread, nor will it be. Let's not go there, please.

Water and water and water! What is water?

Seriously, dude... why all the interest in this subject? Did you lose your watch in the East River or something?

A coworker mentioned to me recentkly taht he thought a tunnel between sandy Hook, New Jersey and Rockaway, Ny would be a goone idea and a time saver. It woudl cut traffic down on teh Verrazano Bridge and reduce traffic on the Rt 440 across Staten Island which is a nightmare across the weekends and summer months.
It would make the trip to Jersey and to the mainland quicker and reduce wea ransd tear on the Verrz. Bridge
It would also make sense to develop alternate routes out of the area since 9/11.
Has anyone thought of that before ? Is it technically feasible ? The trip to Atlantic City woul be reduced by about 1 hour. A parkway/Highway to the Graden State Parkway could be built in NJ where marshlands are.
has anyone thought of that yet ?

Moving this from his other thread to here to continue the discussion.

I don't know the total distance but judging from maps it is technologically feasible since there are tunnels longer than 50 Km in overall length.
Now finacial feasability is another matter which should be discussed with the governor of the state.
