Discovery to get tie-ins!

I honestly don't understand the confusion? I'll simplify it, maybe that'll help.

Tal'Aura maneuvered Donatra into agreeing to a meeting supposedly under the auspices of opening diplomatic relations. (Not even claiming that they wanted to be allies, just basic opening of relations.) But Donatra was overconfident in her position because she legitimately did have the RSE over a barrel since the IRS had most of the major agricultural worlds; it was a ruse to have her arrested (and eventually secretly killed in a way that looked like suicide) to take her out of power. Then Tal'Aura annexed the Imperial Romulan State during the power vacuum since, being so new, there was no established system of transition of power.

And it was all a Tzenkethi master plan too  :rommie:

I stopped reading sometime after Destiny when the DS9/Typhon stuff took over. I didn't mind them slimming the world down by taking the best of all of them and making a singular continuation.

But when it went back to so many convoluted branches I lost interest.

You might be in the wrong place then mate...

So if Pocket is now close to butting up against the 2387 limit, it's a bed we've made for ourselves.

Pocket Books Editor: "Oh no, Christopher, what do we do? Our storyline is nearing the end of 2387, and we can't reference the Romulans or anything from the 2009 movie!"

Christopher Bennett: "Whatevs. Here, have a book set in the 2160s and another one centered on time travellers a few years prior."

I'm right where want to be, (generic stereotypical English comeback not found).
Fantastic! If you stopped reading around Destiny and lost interest due to too many convoluted branches, then may I suggest the amazing Voyager relaunch books by Kirsten Beyer? They are wonderful, and you don't have to follow the rest of the 24th century books if you don't want to, as they are off on their own "branch". The nice thing is that their storyline picks up pretty much right after Destiny ends, so there wouldn't be much catch-up needed.

Sorry if my previous comment seemed like I was asking you not to hang around on this board. Didn't mean that at all. I always just find it weird when people who no longer read the books and have lost interest in them would hang out at a treklit board.

Can I assume that getting back into the books is something that you are interested in?

I think for English stereotypes we're either at the point where you say "You want to say that to my face?" while two of your mates hold you back saying "It isn't worth it" or a quietly murmured, "Well, really! i don't think that was called for!" depending on which stereotype we're aiming for :D

Of course Paris has held up his hands in a peaceful motion and said "I think you've misunderstood" so we can all sit down and have a cup of tea and some biscuits instead.

Just that this is the Treklit board, and it is populated by people who read treklit. @Chemahkuu said that they stopped reading about 8 years ago as they had lost interest. That's all I meant.

What exactly did you THINK i meant @Stevil2001?
I didn't know. That's why I asked. It did seem a little unwelcoming, though, especially in a thread most likely to attract people who don't read the post-Destiny novels.

It's always hard to denote tone in online text conversations. It seemed to me like you were implying I was out of line when I didn't mean anything unwelcoming. So, a misunderstanding then, as @trampledamage pointed out. No harm, no foul I guess.

On a related note, I think the fast jumps in time really made DS9 suffer the most too - even though the Pact, Fall and other novels have allowed exciting developments for some DS9 characters. That wonderful level of detail, the minificence of the original relaunch and the finery of its microarchitecture, really is gone :( Except in Voyager :)
I find it lame that we neither have a full series starring Captain Ezri Dax of the U.S.S. Aventine nor regular DS9 novels with Ezri before her promotion.

Perhaps another time jump would be the only way they can move beyond the events of ST'09? But I remember the fanrage at the timehop in "Rough Beasts of Empire" being pretty severe, to the extent DRGIII quit TBBS.

Would anyone here be on board with the novelverse picking up in a newly established status quo in, say, 2400?
