Discovery Spin-Off Series in the Works?

isn't that sort of the point? they're casting a wide net and making a bunch of different types of star trek shows that'll appeal to different types of tastes.

They're all aimed at the same shrinking group: hard core Star Trek fans.

The Kelvin Timeline is a reboot. Just because they pussyfoot around the subject by maintaining ties to the original continuity as a means of getting Leonard Nimoy to appear is irrelevant.

If something is connected to something that already exists, it's not a reboot.

Period.

Because of Trek '09's connections to already-existing Trek, it is by definition not a reboot.

It reboot the setting, Not just the look as TMP and DSC has done, but events. Its a pure up reboot.

If the creators say it's a reboot, it's a reboot. End of story.
They rebooted it by altering the timeline.

So when CBS says DIS is set in the prime timeline, then it must be true. I can believe a greedy corporation over my own eyes and knowledge of Star Trek canon.

Yes. It is TOS which is not prime anymore. The ship has been replaced; the uniforms; the Klingons; the details of many stories like "Balance of Terror". And all those references to holodecks in the Berman era... line-by-line and then scene-by-scene they are no longer part of the continuity.

Or you could just say the Discoverse is it's own thing, which in no way whatsoever diminishes it, and smile sweetly at those who insist otherwise.

So what about all the official sources that have called it a reboot? Besides, the original definition of "reboot" was simply a continuation of a long dormant series. Indeed, I've seen modern entertainment news people use this definition in reference to the new Star Wars trilogy and the new seasons of The X-Files. I guess this definition would also make Disco a reboot...

TOS still exists, and it's still prime.

And they've hardly contradicted any stories in TOS.
