What we need is an Aaron Sorkin-esque episode with the characters walking & talking while exchanging witty banter.
I feel like the standing desk is one of those things that someone watching years from now will be able to tell what time period the show was made in.

I don't mind it, I think it's cool and different. I just thought that standing desks were a fad from a few years ago. Do that many people really use them?
They're becoming more common in my experience, colleagues with back problems or chronic pain issues prefer them. Sitting isn't always the most comfortable option, and I always liked Admiral Cain's argument about shorter meetings
They're fairly popular at my office; I use one myself. Just from where I'm sitting (standing?), I can see 9 other people out of 30 or so using them.
Plus my physician has recommended it; supposedly, shifting back and forth between standing and sitting all day is good exercise.
And with the look on his face, I honestly thought ST: D was going where no Star Trek did before and was showing us a Captain using a 23rd Century Starship Men's Room Urinal.Lorca stands at his ready room podium..because he can..
