Discovery in Variety

Hard to tell since it is just one still, but I am digging what I see.
Trekmovie analysis: 13 new shots in the trailer, including this epic shot:

I think that might be the Shenzhou - as you can kinda see the edge of Ensign Connors station to the right, but the window looks different, so as an alternative it could be the Europa. They also note that we see another Starfleet Captain in the trailer - the person Lorca talks to at the end - so this could be Europa's Captain. Could this be Wendy Crewson's role - she was mentioned as being an Admiral, but I don't remember anything official?

Remind me not to ask you about production design opinions. :bolian:
Um yeah, looks terrible.

It's a deal. As requested, I remind you not to ask my opinion and to refrain from giving me yours.:techman:
And Um yeah, it still looks terrible even when lit like Lazer Tag from the 80's.

The CG VFX of that Star or whatever it is has certainly improved since the original trailer.
Yup, a lot of us speculated almost all of the early trailers used temp FX for promotional purposes, and recently the more finished FX have been used, somewhat like the early Beyond FX in the trailers. This may even be why the Discovery herself hasn't been seen much. According to some VFX people I know, Pixomondo only worked on the show less than a month before the first trailer!

Cool, I'll give everyone else my opinion while you pretend the production design isn't movie quality!:bolian::bolian:

No one much really does.
Hmm I brought this topic of conversation up on FB and I think the word used that summed up your argument best was "nuts". So yeah, the general view I've seen doesn't really agree with your small , self-congratulatory minority.

Oh, it's definitely the Shenzhou..some people are seeing a face in the binary star. :o

Cool. I talked to some people and they all said your opinion was wrong too, so yeah lol wtf ;)

Anyway, like I said. I actually agree with you.

Sharing something with Facebook friends means nothing. It's an echo chamber.

Pretty much. "Popular on FB" is damning with faint praise.

The effects in Fantastic Four were "movie quality," ie they were effects in a movie. They weren't very persuasive though.

You are correct of course, but Laser Tag in the 80s/90s was AWESOME!

An appeal to the majority of a Facebook group might be the worst kind of argumentum ad populum logical fallacy someone could use!

Except that didn't happen. Whatever:beer:

Just like this quote below then!
It did make a profit, even those arguing with me about it admitted it.

I like the ship designs we've seen so far; the treatment of the familiar details is at least novel. OTOH, the rendering of most ship exteriors used in the ads is about what we were getting twelve years ago on Enterprise.

Hmm, except people use polls all the time to get a general and unscientific feel for what opinion is(you may also have heard of exit polls and the like), which is much the same thing I did, and I have a large pool of opinion to draw from, so I'm very confident that a handful of people here really are not the ultimate good judge. :) So yeah, my opinion stands as is right now. Maybe in some fairy land reality you'll be right someday and I'm ready with a poll for that!:techman:
