I'm sure someone will be by to call out shield percentages....
Discovery looks pretty exciting to me.I'm not a fan of Seth McFarlane because of his lack of tolerance for people who don't share his beliefs. That said, The Orville seems to feature adventure, fun, character work, and as he noted in a recent interview, actual dramatic storytelling. Those are all things I want from Star Trek in general, but see very little of in Discovery. Had Discovery TRULY drawn from TOS, there would be a mix of humor and adventure with social commentary, focus on character, and drama. No, I haven't seen an episode of the show, but the trailers have shown very dire circumstances, a very old conflict (Federation vs. Klingons) and not any fun at all. The news is depressing and "realistic" enough, so I don't need that from Trek.
Discovery is (likely) a great steak dinner from a chophouse.
The Orville is a cheeseburger from a chain restaurant. Discovery is (likely) a great steak dinner from a chophouse.
I've seen nothing yet that proves to me that Discovery is breaking away from the 90's McTrek mold.
It has aship with holes in.
Mores the pity.
Which aspect of it?Don't knock innovative design!
Discovery is the McDLT of Star Trek!
Can I get this analogy grilled with a side of fries please? And why am I so hungry all of the sudden?Yeah, no. You've got it more or less backward.
Discovery is exactly a McDonald's burger. Billions and Billions served. If you like your Big Mac you know what you're expecting and it better be that.
Orville is a diner burger - truthfully, if you don't know the place you're taking a chance, but those of us who like diners would rather give it a go than eat one more time at MickeyD's.
Anyone who wants great steak should really not be at either place.
I want eggs, now.Can I get this analogy grilled with a side of fries please? And why am I so hungry all of the sudden?
Now I have to go get a burger for lunch, thanks to everyone here! Can I get this analogy grilled with a side of fries please? And why am I so hungry all of the sudden?
