Is it just me or does it seem as if Lorca and his crew are essentially trying to create an Iconian gateway. The scene In engineering just totally made me think of that.

I doubt there is a Preserver obelisk in the Andorian system.

Actually, maybe they'll use it to explain why the speed of the plot can get Captain Kirk to someplace easily at Warp One or Warp Two when it would normally take days or months at Warp Factor Nine.
