Discouraging Kirk/Spock slashers...

I'm not a fan of fanfiction. Sure, I used to read fanfiction many years back, but usually I'd have to read a LOT of drivel to find one or two gems. I found too many that were never completed. I would try to read the reviews to see if a story was worth reading, but the reviews were hardly critical. Most of them were love fests, hoping to get the author to publish the next chapter.

Back to the Rodenberry footnote though I always read it as Kirk is tolerant of any sexual practice but has a preference for women.

For those who were looking for Spock/Uhura fanfic I'd like to recommend Wildcat's site. Not only is she a good writer but makes the pairing plausible in what I guess we're calling the prime universe.

That sounds more like a description of Captain Jack to be honest. We never saw Kirk do a dude. I certainly wouldn't object to Kirk being "omnisexual", but I have to agree that he definitely had a taste for women.

This is me. I don't have the patience for the crap. Occasionally I get something recommended to me and I give it a shot, and every once in awhile I just go looking for some quick and easy smut, but otherwise I leave it alone.

Plus, I just don't have the attention span for the really long fics and I don't like fluffy fics, so I have to find that rare breed: the short, one shot, well written dark fic. Or maybe some amusing crackfic. But no long, epic romances.

I thought the same thing. Totally Captain Jack. Now, of course, I'm thinking it'd be fun to do a fic where Captain Jack IS older Kirk, in an AU after the Federation discovers time travel.

Oh, Kirk was as straight as they come alright... that line just struck me as really funny, because he was always shagging some bird... I've lost count of how many aliens he bagged. It was a funny reference toward his promiscuity, rather than his gayness. Yes, it was always to save the ship or some such thing - but bottom line: Kirk got himself some of that.

Reading those statistics (haha at all the times Kirk uses his charm stuff) made me think of D&D.
