Star Treck Discovry is actually Voyaer:

So Discovery starts with a female captain, just like Janeway.
They both are far away from known federation space, and they both encounter threats which make you realize whatever you are watching, its not real star trek like TNG where everyone got along.
I think that in the next season we will see a time warp showing that discovery actually becomes the uss Voyageer and the fake klingons will be the stupid kayton or whatever monsters that follow voyaher over half the show.

Yeah, VOY had a female captain, and there's also a (dead) female captain on DSC. Other than that, there's nothing at all similar.
