Discontinued Eyeglasses Frames

Krud14

I am trying to track down a specific model of eyeglass frame that has been discontinued, but I want that specific model... does anyone know of any website or place I can go to that carries discontinued frames? The model is called Structure SR 817

I don't, but I could maybe help you look. Is "Structure" the brand? Have you tried calling the manufacturer?

Weird. Typing that into Google comes up with millions of hits relating to bridges & actual structures plus this thread.

I can't remember the last time there weren't a few relevant hits for something.

Google has helped me track a few frames by Structure, but none of them were the exact model. They were sold by Sears Optical but every time I go there and ask for help they call all their sister stores and can't find any of them left. They are supposed to have discontinued frames in the backroom storage, but I'm not having any luck.

The question in the first link was one I asked on Yahoo Answers but all they tell me is its impossible to find (although I don't want to believe it) since its made by Sears Optical. Their current models are far from what I'm looking for they never give any information on their past products and who manufactures them. I can't even find a picture of my frame online. I think I've tried everything humanly possible, but its like theres not a single frame on the face of the earth no matter how hard I try. Wish I had an expert to help me with this sort of thing.

You could try taking a picture of it. Perhaps somebody could help you find a similar frame in another brand.

Is your frame broken and you want to re-use the lenses, or is it that you just really like that frame?

If it's the former, it's often possible to find a frame with a similar but slightly smaller lens size and then cut the current lenses down to fit the new frame. If it's a style issue, there's not much you can do if Sears Optical won't contact their Structure Rep to try to find one.

How is it possible to find a frame?

Just go to an optical, tell them you want to try to find a frame to re-use the lenses, and they should do it for you.

A bespoke (fully customised frames, not just a MTO or stock special service) glasses maker could copy them for you. Even better, they'll fit you perfectly. I know of a couple of UK makers who do this, but I'm not familiar with the market in the States. The market is naturally small due to the price of bespoke frames, but if you're in/near a very big city, there may be one near you. Google is an obvious starting point for your search, but try to look for personal recommendations as this sort of work is quite a skilled service.

If he's trying to save money by re-using lenses, and trying to buy a frame from Sears, I don't think a bespoke frame is fits the price range he's looking.

Even with the recommendation from the most stylish poster here. ;)

^ Like I said, it was weird that nothing came up in Google other than this thread. Usually there's some reference to what you're after.

You may not want to hear it, but you may have to go with a different frame or brand than what you're after if it's this hard to even find a reference.

Is there a way I can order the frames from the US?

No, you'd need to be present in person to get fitted, discuss your design requirements, etc, etc, etc. Bespoke is totally personalised to you, so doing it by mail order would be impossible.
