Someone find that thread predicting how long Discovery will run for. I'm sure I said 5 seasons. What do I win?
Discovery was so many different things during it's run, I'm curious what (if anything) will replace it.

Economically, why 5 seasons. Section 31 is not in production, AFAIK.
Probably nothing, with budgets being tightened.
Paramount keeps saying that it's in development.
Perhaps now there will be some movement on it (Especially in light of Michelle being a SAG Award and Golden Globe winner -- and highly probable Oscar winner too, given that the same people vote for both awards.)

P+ wants to expand into Asia (and having Michelle front a show may be the way for them to do it).
There hasn't been any movement on it since 2019.
Plus, Michelle Yeoh is a huge star right now (SAG Award winner, Golden Globe winner, Oscar nominee).
SFA was announced pre-Prodigy. SFA overlaps too much with Prodigy (cadets exploring the cosmos).
It's probably more feasible to incorporate a SFA element into Prodigy.

I'd rather Paramount focus their funding towards a 25th century Starfleet series. Apparently Picard S3 ends in a way that really lays the groundwork for that.
I'm cheering for Yeoh to win that Oscar, so she becomes to pricey for Paramount. She's got a bright future ahead on film.

She's just won a Screen Actor's Guild award (and the guild awards usually predict the Oscars -- the same people vote for both awards).
SFA has never been announced. It’s all just Kurtzman saying it’s something he would like to do.
Maybe some overlap with Prodigy. But only in the sense TNG overlapped with DS9.
They could still do S31 with Yeoh. It would be what replaces Picard.
Just out of curiosity, why do you always seem so opposed to a SFA show?
Yeah I'm a big fan of Yeoh. I enjoyed her character from the Discovery pilot, before they killed her and ate her.
I find her Mirror Universe Genocidal dictator character completely abhorrent. Deserving of slow and painful punishment for what she inflicted on millions. Definitely not someone I'd want a show centered around.

They'll have legacy sets from Disco.
I'm not opposed to it. I just don't think it'll work alongside Prodigy (too much overlap).
Redemption arc?
Yeoh's price is likely way up and availability way down, thanks to that Oscar she just won.
