Diplomatic Dinners aboard your very own Starship

Admiral Archer

Captain
Captain
In TNG "Sins of the Father", we see Picard and crew sampling Caviar and "roasted bird meat' at a diplomatic function which served as a prelude to the Klingon Commander Kurn's installation as first officer in the officer exchange program. While different captains offer their diplomatic guests different foods, this thread is to give you a chance to decide what kind of foods you would have served aboard your ship if you were the Captain. Would you have Japanese or Chinese food? Italian or Mexican? Some sort of Indian or European dishes? On my ship, I would serve a lot of unhealthy country style cooking, due to my Kentuckian family roots (pick something from KFC, and it would be on my menu LOL). Describe your ideal diplomatic dinner below. :)

I’d opt for A cosmopoliran Buffet to impress the off worlders: Buffalo wings, pickled eggs, vats of pork scratching, shell fish selection, a hogs head, a ten foot Cumberland sausage, garlic bread, bacon butties, scampy, chips (not fries), Black pudding, roast lamb, roast beef, Yorkshire puddings, and a mixed salad for decoration.

All presented with mustard, ketchup, brown sauce, and lashings of salt and vinegar.

To wash it all down, a selection of the finest Ales and Bitter from Northern England. Gaviscon dispensers placed at strategic points.

The music would be the greatest hits of the New Romantics, on panpipes.

Brunch Buffet style. Eggs (scrambled of course), bacon, sausage, pancakes, a variety of pasta dishes, several of the sweeter fruits and more palatable vegetables (peas, broccoli). Applesauce. Desserts of cream-filled doughnuts and pumpkin cake.

And for drinks, Sweet White wine, drunk from the skulls of my enemies.

Because I am a gracious host, but not one to be trifled with.

Tacos, pizza, hamburgers, and beer. Work it off later in the holodeck, if ya feel guilty.

That's how we roll on my ship...

We'd drink the blood of my fallen enemies, out of the skulls of their children.

Hail Zorn!

This isn't a question that can be answered statically. It would require knowing the dietary requirements and gastronomical tendencies of various guest species as we go. If we're talking about what would be put out for the Captain (me) in sufficient quantities that everyone could try some if they wanted, in addition to whatever is being served to cater to them, then:

Wisconsin-style Pepperoni Pizza
Springfield, MO, style Cashew Chicken
Old El Paso seasoned taco beef with good shells with the air pockets in them and fixins.
A Mongolian BBQ bar with a chef and cook table
And Pork Fried Rice

:D

A finger buffet featuring one dish from every planet of the Federation, so over 150 unique items to lavish upon guests, because the UFP isn't a damn homo sapiens only club!

I'd just try and avoid the whole diplomatic dinner thing all together far too many opportunities for it them to turn into a diplomatic disaster.
