I went to see this last night with my girlfriend and have come to warn you: avoid it! A lot of critics have been praising this movie and for the life of me I can't understand why.
Paul Rudd is good as the lead, but I'd be interested to see what he could do with a real meaty dramatic script.
It's hard to see Ron Livingston as an evil exec after being so anti establishment in Office Space.
Steve Carell is making a career out of playing idiots from Brick to Michael Scott to this movie's Barry. The shtick was funny the first time in Anchorman, even into 40-Year Old Virgin. But I am amazed that he can continue to make a career playing characters that are one Big Mac short of a Happy Meal.
Speaking of shtick, how many more of these movies are we going to be subjected to, where the jokes are focused around reaching into a zebra's vagina as it's giving birth? Comedy can be done well, so can a movie like this, but unfortunately you will find neither here.
