"Digital Copy" Problems?

I'm a total ipod nub. I only got one cause my new car has a fancy slot for one. When I saw this digital copy thing on the Trek BD I thought I'd give it a shot, but oh well, no joy..

My ipod wont play it. No idea why. This is my first experience with digital copies. Maybe it's my ipod ?

This has been my first attempt at using a digital copy and I have had none of these problems. I'm surprised it's gone so smoothly after what I've read. I bought Enterprise Model edition from Target and it went on my iMac without a hitch. I also put it on my ipod and played it without any hiccups.

Make sure you have all the software updates.

I'm having the same problem as Devon, and I've updated to the latest version of itunes and it still doesn't work.

I got my digital copy of Dark Knight easy last fall. WTF i want my Trek...

I got the 2-disc special edition, and err... what does the "Digital Copy" do exactly?

I think it basically allows you to have a copy of the movie on your computer hard drive without actually needing to rip it from the DVD.

I could be wrong, though. I haven't tried it yet.

I'm watching Captain Robau get killed right now on my iPhone. This is the version that came with the blu-ray set, but you could buy it straight from iTunes for iPod. And it plays on the computer, which the blu-ray does not.

I wasn't making that up either; he got the teral'n right in the brisket as I was writing. Just a fortunate happenstance. :D

Although you have to be very careful on the digital copy. In my case I'm screwed because my Acer laptop doesn't have an optical drive, so I had to download it to my PC, copied the portable version over to the Acer and then it wouldn't let me watch it due to Digital Rights Management restrictions.

I don't know if the process is the same as iTunes but I was able to put a copy of the movie on my desktop and my Acer netbook that has no optical drive.

With iTunes the movie is locked to my iTunes account now so after putting the digital copy on the desktop I copied the entire DVD to a usb key and popped it in the netbook. iTunes instantly recognized the usb key as the DVD and it prompted me to enter the authorization code again. As soon as i did that it installed the movie on my netbook. So all of you who are installing via iTunes i suggest hanging on to your authorization code because you will need it if you want to install on other computers or to reinstall if you have to wipe your system without backups.

When I tried to re-enter the authorization code, it told me the code could only be used once, and promptly denied my access.

Try contacting them and explaining the situation. Maybe they can deactivate your WMP version and give you another code for iTunes. I was about to copy over the WMP version myself when i remembered that digital copies do not play on Zune players. Plus I plan on getting an iPhone in the future so I narrowly averted my own WMP digital copy nightmare.

After jumping through all kinds of hoops for the DRM stuff.
( what is downloading are the rights to view it )

The disk downloaded 2 versions of the film to my HD.

A large 1.25+ GB file of the entire film
A small 525+ MB file of the entire film

What I can tell just by watching, the smaller file is highly compressed and runs in a small window, good for portable devices I'm guessing, not so good for anything else.

The larger file is a higher quality and can run full screen on your desktop / laptop type setup and look just as good as watching the DVD itself on your HD-TV.

Of course having it on your computer makes it easier to pause, take screen shots & so forth & so on.

I went and bought the DVD today, because the digital copy will not run in the DVD player program, and the DVD player has much better controls for getting screen caps. iTunes only lets you stop; the DVD player lets you go frame-by-frame.

hi everyone,
maybe i'm a bit slow on the uptake, but last month, after it had been gathering dust for a while, i decided to try and go through the rigmarole of loading the digital copy of ST onto my iphone, through itunes.
when i went to enter the code, it said the offer associated with that song code had expired. not withstanding it was a film, and not a song, i contacted Paramount, who promptly emailed me back with a new code
That said exactly the same thing
Emailed Paramount again explaining what had happened, and this morning after nearly a month, they replied
"hello, thankyou for your interest in the digital copy feature for Star Trek. Unfortunately this feature has officially been discontinued. we appreciate your interest in this feature and hope to provide many more like it in the months to come"

Theres no mention of a time limit or expiry date for the code or longevity of the product. Ive purchased a 3 disc set, i expect to be able to watch all 3 discs! ive emailed paramount back saying this, so i'll wait (hopefully not another month) for their reply.
Has anyone else had similar problems? is this actually common knowledge or am i being a bit dim?
