There are some episodes of Star Trek with different opening credits.

Would you have liked different opening credits to some particular episodes in TNG like 'Yesterday's Enterprise' when Federation is at war with the Klingons or 'The Best Of Both Worlds' when Picard is replaced by Riker?

Imagine 'Yesterday's Enterprise' with something like....
”These are the battles of the warship Enterprise, the continuing mission to defend the Federation, to seek out the weakness in our enemies, to boldly fight like no one has fought before”.

What about 'The Best Of Both Worlds', maybe Riker could have done the opening dialogue?

Personally, unless it's a comedy like Community or Psych (They did some of that) I always found that shtick to be a bit shticky. Honestly, I've always hated opening sequences altogether. If it weren't for the beautiful Star Trek music in them, I'd rather it be as short as possible, like LOST or Breaking Bad short, like an under 20 second moving title screen, with one quick music cue, & on with the show. I mostly tolerate all the space porn in Star Trek's longer openings because the music is usually fantastic... usually

I don't think I really care either way. Opening title sequences are novelties....so having a "special" one for a "special episode" isn't really something i think much about.

Other than changing the opening credits after season 2, then adding some extra flashy stuff to the credits around season 6, I can't remember specific episodes having different credits. Can you give examples?

I think they mean that one mirror episode of ENT that had a militaristic/"evil" version of the regular ENT intro playing.

Wasn't the extra flashy thing in season 5 because of 25th anniversary of Star Trek?

Now that you mentioned it, I can only remember that 'Enterprise' mirror episode with different opening, however I have a feeling there could have been something else too but I'm not sure.

The TNG Season 3 and 4 DVD sets I have change the menus when you select "The Best of Both Worlds" or "The Best of Both Worlds, Part II." Instead of a Federation-style menu and background, it is Borg. I like that kind of touch, although I will not go out of my way for such a thing.

People are becoming increasingly impatient.

I think mosty simply because technology allows more options these days. If a button 'skip intro' had been available 50 years ago I'm fairly sure it would have been used as much as today.

As for different opening credits: no, I don't think so. Even though I loved those different Enterprise opening credits for In a Mirror, Darkly, I think the money used to greate such a gimmick could better be spent on improving the quality of the episode itself.

Eh, I thought the Mirror Darkly intro was pretty lame.

The least they could have done is play some heavy metal song about fighting/war instead of that boring instrumental.

Or...alternatively they could have written a new set of more aggressive lyrics for "Faith of the Heart" and just played that, haha.
