Didn´t Kirk reprogram Kobayashi Maru cenario?

Acording AICN, Kirk persuades a chick he is banging to alter the simulator so that it is winnable.
A chick?
Wouldn´t Kirk be capable to do this himself?
Would he earn the credit for this act?

Re: Hasn´t Kirk reprogrammed Kobayashi Maru cenario?

The article also says:
"AICN also note that it could be total BS so take with a big grain of salt."

Re: Hasn´t Kirk reprogrammed Kobayashi Maru cenario?

BS or not, I think it's a great scenario. Kirk never struck me as particularly technically inclined, so I rather believe him getting some hot IT chick to do it. :)

Re: Hasn´t Kirk reprogrammed Kobayashi Maru cenario?

I could see Kirk getting some hot chick to tell him how to do it in the throws of passion, but I think Jimmy would do it himself just to keep the people who know about it to a minimum.

Re: Hasn´t Kirk reprogrammed Kobayashi Maru cenario?

Maybe he subcontracts a "Kirk's Angels" team do it for him. Each chick does a separate piece of the hacking, and thus all have plausible deniability.

Re: Hasn´t Kirk reprogrammed Kobayashi Maru cenario?

I would think that he would bang the chick, who conveniently had access to the simulator computers, and then swipe her access card.

I thought rather the opposite since he was quite adapt in "The Doomsday Machine" at fiddling with the Aux Controls and in "This Side of Paradise" helping Spock rig the comm station.

Re: Hasn´t Kirk reprogrammed Kobayashi Maru cenario?

OK wait, I see it now. It was a "Kirk's 11" caper. Kirk gathers up all his buddies in a warehouse on Rigel 7, with a perfect replica of the KM simulation. Scotty is the basher, Sulu the grease man, Uhura the insider, Spock the eye in the sky, Chekov is the rookie, McCoy is the pro and Pike is the bankroll.

Yes. He could be bangging the chick, because she would have access to the simulator sistem.
Kirk used many times this estrategy in TOS.

If the dramatized events do not track the dialogue from TWOK in the most literal fashion possible (note: "literal" here means, "the assumed and unnuanced interpretation of words as I individually have understood them") then I will boycott the movie, DVDs and comic-book tie-ins.

I may, however, buy the action figures for their investment value.

Mmmmm Mego Winona...

Kirk was capable of single-handedly restarting the NCC-1701's engines after Finney sabotaged them in Court Martial along with repairing the Constellation's sensors in The Doomsday Machine, both of which I daresay confirm Mitchell's "a stack of books with legs" characterization of the man.

^ eh, he was just reading the instructions of the internet.

Re: Hasn´t Kirk reprogrammed Kobayashi Maru cenario?

That's also the episode that establishes the existence of device that amplifies the sound of heartbeats "to the first power" as well as suggesting that the way to alter computer program code is to alter the "memory banks" of the machine. So we can take as given that the story shouldn't be taken too seriously.

Funny. Where's Dennis?

Re: Hasn´t Kirk reprogrammed Kobayashi Maru cenario?

Well, what did you expect? This film is a reboot of of the franchise, which establishes its own continuity based loosely upon what we have seen before. Abrams obviously feels it adds more to the character to have him get someone else to do the deed for him rather than have him re-program the computer himself. That the scenario is even mentioned at all is just a bone thrown to the hard core fans.

Hear me again. This is a reboot. Trek II does not apply.

^ well I guess that settles it. We can close the forum now.
