Did you know? Trivia and facts

According to the Star Trek: Official Fan Club Magazine, Star Trek: The Next Generation was originally going to be set in the 25th century, about 150 years after The Original Series. The USS Enterprise would still have been the Hero ship, but it would have been the NCC-1701-G.

DYK:

- King Abdullah II (then Prince Abdullah) of Jordan appeared in the VOY episode "Investigations" as a background extra.

- Colm Meaney was made aware of our "facts about Colm Meaney" thread by G4 during an interview.

- Saavik was originally going to be male.

- There was talk of giving Picard a prosthetic/bionic arm following the events of the BOBW. (as it would turn out that his arm was removed during the assimilation process)

- Spock wasn't meant to return following the character's death in TWOK, it was intended that Saavik would be the Vulcan successor and Kirstie Alley would continue to play her.

- At the same time, we partially have Nicholas Meyer's intuition as a director and screenwriter to thank for Spock's return. It was Meyer who insisted that Nimoy put something into the death scene ("Remember") just as an "anything is possible" piece of symbolism, and the rest is history.

During the filming of the DS9 episode "Apocalypse Rising" Michael Dorn was looking forward to seeing his co-stars in the same heavy Klingon make-up he had been wearing for years. Colm Meaney however, complained so much about the experience that Dorn asked producers to never put Meaney in heavy make-up again. Conversely, Rene Auberjonois found the makee-up much easier as it covered less of his face than his typical Odo make-up.

His closest contender is Nog (Cadet, Ensign, Lieutenant j.g., Lieutenant Commander*, Commander, and Captain), possibly equalling La Forge's count, but due to a possible costuming error he was never shown wearing a Lieutenant Commander's pips, even though a field promotion to Lieutenant Commander was mentioned on-screen.

In what episodes was Nog Commander and Captain? Was he actually shown wearing 4 pips?

As mentioned above, the episode was The Visitor. Here are some pictures:

NO! Meyer was PISSED OFF that Bennett added the "remember". They did it without him (and without his knowledge). He later said that even though he thought it was bad and diluted Spock's death scene, at least it let his friend, Leonard Nimoy, continue to get more work (as Spock in subsequent films/tv).

On the VOY set, they quickly worked out different nicknames so there wouldn't be confusion among all three actors named Robert: BOB Picardo, ROBBIE McNeill, and ROBERT Beltran.

JG Hertzler first appeared in DS9 as Sisko's Vulcan CO on the Saratoga in Emissary, using a different name.

He also used a *different* different name when he played Laas. :)

(As did Robert O'Reilly when he was the casino counter in "Badda bing")

As for Vaughn Armstrong: TOS is the only Trek he hasn't been involved in. He was in his early teens, AFAIK, when TOS was on.

Brent Spiner, Patrick Stewart, Rene Auberjonois and Bob Picardo are all Star Trek regulars who have appeared in guest spots on Frasier.

Frasier returned the favour with regular actors kelsey grammer, Dan Butler, Bebe Neuwirth and Patrick Kerr appearing as guest actors in Trek.

^No, he didn't.... :wtf:

some of those trek appearances appeared BEFORE Frasier started...

Yes, that applies to both kelsey Grammer and Bebe Neuwirth, but they were already playing their "Fraiser" characters on "Cheers". The characters were already established by the time the actors appeared on Trek.

Five Trek actors have appeared on Big Bang Theory.

Wil Wheaton
Leonard Nimoy
Brent Spiner
George Takei
LeVar Burton

(Betcha before it's all over they have Shatner on.)

Your post implied the trek actors showed up on Frasier before Kelsey Grammer and Bebe Neuwirth showed up on TNG

^ the text in bold suggests those actors from Frasier guest starred on Trek shows as result of certain Trek actors showing up on Frasier which wouldn't apply to Grammer and Neuwirth... Besides, Brent Spiner showed up on Fraiser during Enterprise's run (I'm not sure about the others). I don't believe any of the Frasier cast showed up on Enterprise...

^wasnt she the one who gave Roddenberry the green light after other Hollywood honchos balked at the tv idea...?

Sorry about that, it was just a figure of speech. Just meant to say that some actors from Trek have been on Frasier and some from frasier have been on Trek.
