Did you know rape is funny?

I went to see "Last House on the Left" and can you beleive people in the theater actually laughed during the rape scene. Not all of them. It was mostly some teenagers. Granted I think everything is open to being funny and there are a few people that can get humor from even that situation but the rape scene in that movie wasn't funny at all even in a dark twisted type of way. Anyways I was digusted and felt like informing everyone there is some real sickos in the world.

People laugh when publicly viewing things that make them feel awkward or uncomfortable as a way to relieve tension.

You see teens laughing at public viewings of Schindler's List, as well. This isn't because they think that the Holocaust is funny, but because they need to let out some emotional reaction and laughing is more acceptable than crying or screaming.

I supose that makes sense. I am even like that myself in alot of situations. Hell half of my humor comes from the fact that am so lonely and deppressed.

Its cause teens aren't honest with themselves, it isn't seen as "cool" to cry or get emotional or get serious about such things, they laugh to fit in and make it seem like they are cool, it is immaturity.

I'd like to think that it was because they felt awkward and uncomfortable, but experience says that's not necessarily the case.

Course, there are plenty of people out there who genuinely do think rape is hilarious. Venn diagramatically speaking, these are the self same people I consider not even worth the effort of listening to, let alone trying to like.

oh did you see that youtube video where this big dog started humping this kid as he laughed/shouted and parents/adults were filming? and there was another where the dog was raping a cat. >_<

i guess animals are just funny. >_<

Rape is a lot like babies getting shot in the tiny little head- both are hilarious, but only if they're not really happening.

I haven't seen this movie but people sometimes laugh at uncomfortable situations. Its not just rape an entire industry has been built around having a hockey masked killer stab people to death in different ways. Is that funny? Entertaining?

One of the first adult movies I saw with my folks was Steve McQueen and Ali McGraw in the original The Getaway guess what a major subplot with Sally Struthers was? Not only did the people laugh, the character like getting raped.

There is a video game where you rape women. I've read people comments all over the web, and it's not simply laughing because they are unconfortable, but they actually think it's funny; people getting their head blown off: hilariuous according to random internet dumbass. So forth.

I heard guys laughing and cheering during Watchmen last week. It happened when the Comedian was brutalizing Sally Jupiter. So I guess violence against women is pretty funny to some people.

Please don't start that discussion again.

As far as our favourite hockey masked killer goes, what else are we supposed to feel ? The characters are usually written so badly that we have no investment in whether or not they die so the only entertainment we can take from the movie is watching their ridiculously over the top deaths.

We know the hot "teenage" (i.e. early 30's) girl who has had most of the dialogue will survive and her boyfriend will die (and probably turn out to be the killer too).

These films aren't made to be taken seriously, they're not social commentary. Most of the time, the imagination that goes in to the death scenes is about all the imagination the film has.
